Just be sure you know how to interpret the approach chart and brief it properly. You should know how to do this with whatever chart the instructor decides to give you. Don't practice only on Manila, you just might get something else.

regarding the sim check during the approach, are you asked to brief the PNF?

If Icarus is correct on the new ATR rates (i.e. ...based on US regionals...) man, that would be a good local rate.

Looking at the number of new planes vs. the pool of local commercial pilots, seems to be a big shortfall. Better local conditions and dwindling expat deals in India and elsewhere - does that mean a lot of pilots will be going back home?

local rate

YES IT IS....should not hear one complaint from anyone. of course its inevitable that someone will..ie working too much (but you'll get paid extra), overnighting too much (then work for McDonalds), not enough days off (then dont work).

"keep the blue side up"

Smile ATR Salaries

5J pays well and probably more than US regionals. An FO can kae 2-2.5K per month and a Captain 3.5 -4 (and yes it IS legal to have foreign pilots in the Phil). This in Pesos is dam good money in manila and even better in the province. In the USA you make whole lot less and the cost of living is huge. But human nature is to complain. With the fuel price we all must be quiet and pray we keep our jobs as many airlines will retrench many pilots - so here we go again another feast or famine cycle.

Went ahead and submitted my Resume to Cebu Pacific. Any other advice from the wise as the next step tp becoming part of the next great airline in the Philippines?

Any advice would be very much appreciated. Currently flying in the states but have all documents. Pretty muchwilling to fly for food cause US Regionals are begining to throw the axe around.

Does anyone actually have an idea how much they pay for a 320 skipper? Be nice to have a rough idea.

ATR Interview

Initial interview is conducted by at least one (the ATR Chief) and another one from either flight ops or HR. Very simple. They go through your resume/credentials and verify certain details within it. Basic questions pertaining to your level of experience will be asked. In other words, if you are a CME-Instr certified, anything is fair game within the Practical test Standards and knowledge bank. If your resume says who your experience really is, then they would know just by your replies... Additionally, they might ask you of your expectations with regard to the 5J work environment, conditions of employment, and the like. So all your 'burning' questions may be laid down here.. But please do remember to be very courteous and respectful. They need pilots like you, but will not hesitate to turn-down or not call back those who may display (or have the potential) 'questionable' personalities...No matter how experienced you are. 5J is a growing organization. It aims to maintain the highest possible cultural standards within the work place. Candidates must be able to adapt to airline environment and culture. Its a lot of work, but very rewarding. Lots of opportunities.

Captain requirements (basic): 3000hrs total, 1500hrs min command, turboprop command a plus. ATPL , etc...

First Officer: MAY be as low as 500 hours total. (depending on history of recent experience) CPL-Intr rated. Turbo-prop time a plus.. etc..

What I've quoted above is just basic or minimum, and are close assumptions. If successful with initial interview, next step may be an eval ride on the simulator (so brush up on raw data!) ... so on and so forth..

I hope this helps a bit.

Did the second batch of ATR arrived yet?

I've talked to an applicant who already passed the interview and sim, but still waiting for CEB PAC's call.

ATR

3rd ATR will be coming in September.

It's a long wait even if you passed the sim ride. looks like 5J is taking their time in recruiting pilots.

Recruiting for ATR

Yes, the waiting list is long. 5J still processing internal upgrades for the ATR. Bangkok and Kuala slots are limited per class. One batch takes 40-45 days to train abroad, PLUS the IOE and transition period when back here on the line. Others 'MIGHT' expect to be given more definite training updates mid-August . If someone has heard otherwise than just feel free to correct this post. Batch now in BKK to return second week Aug. Next batch leaving immediately after that. Good luck y'all!! I hope the wait ain't too long..

You have to be a Philippine Citizen. I asked both PAL and Cebu Pacific and they require citizenship and passport.

Talking Not True at All - JB

Sorry but you do NOT have to be a prc citizen - 100% regs allow this. Please send your CV to the HR group at 5J. Not sure who told you that... Are you Captain - we need ATR captians bad.................Tell your frinds and family

If you have Q400 time, try writing PAL as well. I heard that they are also starting to get critical on manning their T-props.
