About CEBPAC pilot requirements ?
 
HI EVERYONE , I WONDER IF ANY OF YOU, KNOWING ABOUT THE REQUIREMENTS OF THIS CARRIER ,WHICH ARE AVAILABLE IN THEIR WEB PAGE , ARE THEY REALLY THAT STRICT ? :

Qualifications:
  • Male / Female
  • Must have at least 1,500 flying time
  • Must have a Philippine commercial pilot license with instrument
  • Must have a radio license
  • Must have at least 2nd class medical license
  • Must be a Filipino citizen / holder of Philippine passport
THE QUESTION IS , I DONT HAVE PHILIPPINE PASSPORT, OR THE EXPERIENCE THEY WANT , ANY IDEA IF THEY ARE FLEXIBLE ON THEIR REQUIREMENTS ?,I HAVE THOUGH JAA ATR 42/72 TYPE RATING .
I HEARD NOT VERY GOOD THINGS ABOUT THE COMPANY BUT I HAVE NO JOB SO UNDERSTAND MY SITUATION :ugh:.

The experience requirement you listed is for A320 applicants. The TT requirement for the ATR is lower, around 500 hours (I think) for first officers.

But yes, they are strict with the Philippine passport requirement. Applicants are required to submit photocopies before the initial screening interview. They do accept applicants with dual citizenship however.

It seems the flight deck crew are generally happy with the airline. Unfortunately, the passengers are not. 5J has been plagued lately with a spotty on-time performance record and a reputation for mediocre customer service.

It doesn't seem to be improving, nor does the top brass seem to be doing anything about it. In this regard, chairman LG is like a deer caught in the headlights.

Any idea of what the interview process is like for the ATR candidates? What the process is and what is expected from any sim rides?

Also, I would like to know how long Cebu Pacific takes to make a call after submitting a resume/cv? Is it like PAL which takes 3 months?

Depends on what the need is. Someone I know got the call after only a couple of weeks, but he was in the same batch as some other guys who'd been waiting for a couple of months already.

There was a time when they didn't require a sim evaluation, but that's now changed. The latest batch of A320 applicants will now need to show what they can do in the sim.

The evaluation ride will be in the A320 sim over at Clark, which is always breaking down. Not sure what the syllabus is, but I hear it won't be anything as exotic as, say, an engine out drill. After all, they don't expect the applicants to know how to fly the Bus yet.

Can't say if they also require this for the ATR applicants.

If you have 3,000 hours TT, an ATPL, a Philippine passport and a good attitude, 5J will even show you the left seat of an ATR. They really need them captains.

i heard from one of the sim instructors, its simply to check how the applicants react/follow FD orders... also, shoot an ils on raw data... goes true perhaps for airbus pilot applicants.

As athrofapoff said, the sim check is following raw ILS data and FD commands. The last sim check I know for both Captain and F/O's for the ATR were done in the A320 level D sim at Clark Av in Pampanga.

Following the FD is not that difficult, it's the raw data that's a bit of a challenge especially if you're not used to the sim but doable. Just remember the A320 has an auto trim so be gentle on the side stick and correct with small changes.

I thought CebuPac was at one stage interested in hiring the ALSIM. I guess to be used for evaluating candidates.

Once you're over the sensitivity of the sidestick, flying an ILS on the 320, even on raw data, should be a piece of cake.

I take it autothrust is engaged for the evaluation sessions?

To Type Rate or Not to Type Rate?
 
Hello All:

Would it help an old geezer who meets mininimums to type rate in the ATR or Dash8 for a t-prop job with Ceb or PAL?

If I do get a TR, would that negate bonding and whats the impact on entry salary?

Type rating is very expensive on an ATR, in fact its more than an AB. If you have 3000 plus and you are able to obtain an RP Passport you are most definitely most wanted by both companies.

To best answer the rest of your questions, its best to direct those questions to the Chief Pilot of the ATR itself. Only he alone can give you a definite answer. At least for Cebu Pac.

Email the recruiting address for CebuPAc which is listed on their website and put attention to Chief Pilot for the ATR.

....or better yet just send in your resume and dont forget to put Att: ATR Chief Pilot.

Unfortunately, I dont have 3000hrs. Diverted back to an engineering job in 1998 when Asia went tits up with only 400TT and now wanting to go back flying. Guess, I'l need to build up again.

..the minimum as an FO for the ATR is 500 but the most important thing is to current. Flying instrument is something you dont want stop and then restart..in a few years. Rusty scanning.

However, get to 500 as this will get you an interview on the right seat.

I just put in my papers to ATO and picking up the books again. I know what you're saying about the rusty scanning but a few dozen hours hood time should fix that.

Amazing how many jobs there are right now compared to where it was 10 years ago. Those shiny ATR's and Q400's at Mactan surely woke my interest.

Just played a round of golf at Mactan next to the airport and saw an ATR followed by a Q400 taking off. Man, they look good! Amazing how fast the Q400 climbs out, indeed near jet speeds.

OK, I'm definitely going back into the game!

no specific amount but the pay for the captain has just been raised. i believe its more than the competitor. quote "this will make it more attractive".

im guessing this is way to attract "skippers for the ATR.

hint... its competative to a similar captain on a similar aircraft in the regionals in the US..
