Jet Airways Information

Any idea as to how many Capts/pilots they will hire each month? Also what is Jet's financial status. I know some of the airlines have lost a bundle recently. Will they survive the long haul? Plus for any expats there, are folks staying longer than 1 year or is the rostering making people quit.
On the 3 year contract what is the escape clause? i.e quit with 30 days notice?

Jet Airways Hiring Information

Just spoke to Aeropersonnel in Canada, the contracting agency for Jet Airways. I was told that they are behind on the 737NG program because there is a greater emphasis on hiring the A340/777 candidates. However, there is still a need for the 737NG (She said around 30 Capts). Screening is until Feb 14, and then again the first 2 weeks in March. Once screened and accepted it will take 45-60 days for a security clearance. So if you accept plan on being in India about two months after you visa paperwork has been sent it. The contract is for 3 years. Any expat Capts currently there--your candid posts will be appreciated and help those who are considering JetAirways. I also have a few questions:

1. health insurance--does the contract provide for it?
2. Disability/loss of license?
3. How long is their training?
4. Is the training all done in Mumbai?
5. I have heard that your Prof check needs to have at least 3 months on it. Is that on arrival or just when you screen?

Hi, guys

I have a very big quiestion to those who are working in Jet already.

I have received the T/C from Jet and I am really concern regarding the following condition

The Crew Member is responsible for renewing his license, medicals and proficiency from the jurisdiction of the licensing authority of the crew member’s home country.

Is this real? I mean, does everyone in Jet as an expats are paying your own recurrency as well?? I have never heard this kind of T/C!!

It will be great if anyone can tell me if this is true or not. Then, I will make a decision to go for interview or not....

From what I understand you'll be flying in India on your country of origins lisense. what that means is you'll be responsible for maintaining your medical, and your IFR. Your 6 month ppc ride in India will not renew your IFR. So once every 2 years I'll have to come back to Canada and renew my multi IFR. It's not uncommon.
I'm on about day 60 and still no word on security clearance.
My big question is how are the expats managing to work 8 weeks on a 6 day on 1 day off sched, and only getting home for 2 weeks at a time. Travel is on days off which for me would be a loss of 4 days everytime I come home.I'm not sure a 3 year contract is doable on that sched.
I'd really like to hear how people are managing it.

JetAirways

Is the IFR currency requirement different in Canada? In the USA the 6 month PC covers any currency issues one might have. If I remember correctly in the USA, the IFR currency is 6/6/6. In past 6 months, 6 approaches with 6 hrs of actual or simulated instrument time.

Has anyone been invited from Randhem Aviation for an interview. I hear they are conducting the first round of selection over this and following week.

Would love to hear from guy/gals who have been lucky enough to be called for interviews.

PM me if you would like to discuss any further.

SpiceJet

Do you have to go through Contractair to get on with Spicejet? Or can you apply directly to [email protected]? Are you able to negotiate a better contract if you go directly to Spicejet? Anyone care to share the terms & conditions at Spicejet (most recent) feel free to post. I havent heard anything negative yet about Spicejet--other than they lost 41 crores!

Jet Airways Hotels

Does anyone at JetAirways know if you are able to negotiate a better housing allowance (currently $1800/month). Considering they would be paying at least $6000/month if they had to pay for hotels. In searching on line I have found many of the expat housing rates to be around $2200 and higher for a 4/3 house. Many require a deposit as well as advance rent.

So, Kingfisher or other airlines are giving sort of the same kind of contract? Like Jet?? I think we have to pay our own check is not really fair. I will consider not to go to the screening...

JetAirways

Jetairways has extended their Feb07 screening to Feb 20th inclusive. They will also consider non-current applicants, so long as they obtain their currency once they get an offer of employment. This info is from Aeropersonnel in Canada, the contract company for JetAirways.

Jet Airways T/C

I see the info regarding the Jet Airways T/C. I hear from Aeropersonnel that Jet has dropped the requirement for (at least) 777 captains to pay for recurrency in the a/c, Jet will now pay. No confirmation, but that's what I've been told. Anyone know anything about this? I also hear that 777 crews will be based in London. And, is there any info on the sim screening/interview in AMS? Is it a checkride profile, or what?

I also note the bad words concerning flight dept management (WB?). There seems to be a difference of opinion concerning whether this team is still there or not. Any help? Thanks.

According to the new Austrain Chefpilot on the B777 Jetairways have plenty of applicants with B777 license.
But short of SEVERAL captains on the B737, another app. 40 cpts.leaving in april, going home to fly their sommerprograms.

Hi,

Just curious if anyone know if jetairways accept FAA license. I checked www.randhem.com website and they say JAA license required. According to the Indian DGCA they only require license from ICAO country. I'm reaching 1000 hours pretty soon and I would like to know if I qualify.

Thank you guys

777 based in Europe

Does anyone know how one applies for the 777 positions?, JetAirways website only shows positions available on A340, 737 and ATR . Or should one contact the likes of PARC, Aeropersonnel, etc.? Much appreciate any info on this one........thanks in advance,

OW

JetAirways

Contact Aersopersonnel. They handle the JetAirways contract. Their website is www.aeropersonnel.com. You can apply for the job on their site and register as well. I think the code for Jet is B777PICSAJ. It will give you all the contract details as well.
Here is what they will tell you that you need to send them as an email attachment.
1. Passport
2. Licenses
3. Medical
4. Copy of last checride
5. Last 3 pages of your log book.
6. Copy of Indian Visa (if you already have one).
7. Resume/CV
8. FRTO--Radio Telephone Licence
9. Breakdown of hrs form (download from their website)

They will then also send you a DGCA form for an Indian security clearance which you need to send back. When you send the documents here is how they want you to do it. Go to any copy place and scan the documents as a Jpeg document. You can save it on a flashdrive. Each document should be separate. If your ATP is two-sided, then do page 1 as one file and page 2 as another. The CV/Resume can be sent as a word document.
Do not try to fax them stuff even though they have a fax number listed. It does not work, and they insist on email attachments.

This is how you might want to word the documents: If you are planning to apply for more than one carrier then this works great and you don't label anything for Jet/Spice or Kingfisher specifically.

Doe, John CV
Doe, John UK passport
Doe, John Medical
Doe, John ATP page 1
Doe, John ATP page 2
Doe, John FRTO
Doe, John Log page 1
Doe, John, Log page 2
Doe, John, Log page 3

Send them the email and attach all of the above. You will be contacted within 2-3 days at the latest. They are swamped right now and seem a bit behind the curve. They are focusing on the B777 right now but also need 737NG Capts.

Good luck. Security clearances are taking 30-45 days I'm told and so once you submit the paperwork, you can plan to be in India 45 days from the day they(Indian Govt-not Aeropersonnel) process the DGCA form, assuming you have already been screened and have been offered a position.

JetAirways

If you think you are definitely going to go to India, even if it is just for the screening, once you make a copy of your passport to send, go ahead and apply for a visa to India at your local Indian Embassy. Your visa when employed will be different. Don't tell the Embassy you are going for a job interview, just a mini vacation. This way you will have a visa in a week or two. Jet will be screening until Feb 20th, and then again in March. The slowest part of the whole process I'm told is the Indian Govt process. Airlines would probably want you there yesterday--but the DGCA and Govt work very differently.
