Does JetAirways supply any luggage or a flightbag. I heard somewhere that they do and I'm wondering if i can leave my old ones at home?

Hi Fedemelnyk

Just to let you know you are not alone!

I also did my screening and sim with JET on 11th June and was accepted but am unsure about when the contract etc may arrive.

Was advised at the interview that 15th Aug MAY be a start date but this could be wishful thinking!.Sounds like we may need to have some patience from what I read.

Good Luck and hope to see you there.

You newbies have to start doing a little work on your own. Do a search and read all the threads about JetAirways. Everything you're asking is in there. It's what i did.
It's about a 7 month process from the time of your screening to setting your foot on Indian soil.
You won't hear anything from JA untill your security clearance comes in. that could in itself take up to 5 months. JA also has it's hands full with 777 drivers so the red tape might be a little longer.
As far as the priority list goes you're on the bottom...
The number one rule for India is be patient...if you're not a patient person start checking out other options.

Hey fellows,
Is Randhem still interviewing for Jet FO positions? I'm an FO on a regional airline in the US with 900 TT and 100 Jet on the CRJ. I'm really interested in finding out more about the 737 NG or 777 for Jet. Unforunately all FAA ratings, but with Indian citizenship. I'm too new for the PM on here, but feel free to msg me on: [email protected]

Thanks!

Chirag,
Your best bet is to get your Indian license. All you need to do is get some coaching from someone in Delhi for about a month, then go pass your written/oral test. After that one hour flying in the day and one at night. That's it. With your Indian citizenship you don't need a security clearance to fly there. Once you have your Indian license you can pretty much walk into any job you like. Don't waste your time with randhem, they are an unprofessional bunch.

Good luck, SD

Thanks for the suggestion Santos. I've contemplated that option of converting my licenses to the DGCA. It just seems very time consuming with no real guarantee. I'm hoping to fly in India as an expat on the CRJ then try n string a connection or two on to the 737/777. How does that sound for optimism from my living room??

Randhem

I have lived in India as an expat for the first 30 years of my life. Until very recently it was impossible (or so complicated you can say impossible) for a foreigner to fly in India. So I had to find a job somewhere else. Now that the DGCA has finally approved that the local airlines hire foreign nationals I made a trip to India and applied everywhere. Every airline at the time (six months ago) wanted type rated pilots with 100-200 hours PIC on type. Except Jet Airways that is hiring expat copilots through Randhem, and JET forwarded my application to Randhem. I get a call from Randhem saying I need to show up for an interview in Sweden, and I have to pay for my own ticket.... Me: Is it ok that I only have a FAA license and no JAA license as is specified on your website ? Randhem: Yeah yeah, FAA no problem !

Pause for a while to contemplate the situation.... now in India, having to pay my way to Gotheborg for an interview for a job back in India.....

Anyway, two weeks and $2000 later I go through the interview process, pass, and am told to expect a contract 2 weeks from then. Nothing. A few calls and emails later I get an apology from them basically saying that they couldn't find any country in Europe that would validate my FAA license in order to do my line check and base check in Europe. Sorry ? Is that all ? What about all the time and money I have spent for a mistake on your part Randhem ?

Unprofessional. That's all I have to say.

But hey, I'm back to the best job in the world...

That answers that... thanks a mil for your help Santos, as I haven't heard any "info" yet from Randhem either, the deal with Jet has perhaps fizzled out. If you don't mind me asking, did you fly for any particular airline in India? And if you are on US soil now, how does it compare?

Jet Airways : a school of patience

Hi Guys,
Whatever your experience is, Capt/FO or TRI/TRE, 1500h or 15000h; B777 or B737 it can last forever to join Jet. The big mistake is to resign from a job before you get in ...PHYSICALLY!: contract+invitation letter+security clearance+visa (which can take several months even years ! )+ ticket then take unpaid leave or holidays because everything may change. The contract is submit to authorities approvals so if a paper, a visa or anything missing...no job.
. In fact it's perfect if you're 60 and retired with money then you can extend at least up to 63 even 65 on B737 or if you don't need a job to feed your family . But if you need to work take care!
Interview is fine, everything is simple, life is fantastic...promises!
They give you a date to join , you trust and you give your resign according to your notice period because you're a good guy. Up to this point everything is fine: you have the contract and the invitation letter, simple formalities for the embassy!
Then you go with your papers to the embassy for the visa and then.....good luck.
No assistance from jet Airways will be provided but people are nice, they understand your situation, they send you nice emails but ...nothing.
According to the email it will be solved shortly....... but shortly can be several months: 6,7 8 and even more. But in the mean time you have resigned without job anymore so you wait or you try to work on request with your previous employer or someone else with no insurance that your case will be solved or GO AROUND!
So be patient: it will come when it comes!
It is a great opportunity but a real problem to join and difficult to trust what is said during the interview, keep in mind that in India Yes can mean Yes but No as well! Good luck!.

Note: When I join by 2008 or maybe 2020, I'll keep you advise from inside

F/O Positions in India

I think there are others also looking for type rated B 737 F/Os in India. Air India also has the 737 NGs - they may need you also.
