National Sport? Come on now

"Did I take anything away from Malaysia, yeah sure, some excellent memories and a profound understanding that you can turn lying into a national sport"

Come on, Malaysia isnt that bad. If you compare the Bush bullSh!t about WMD, Blair's [email protected] that is a national sport in those countries. The mentality of the occupiers are again: Pillage the country, steal all the oil and riches. Build the country up and make the locals pay for the cost of reconstruction and war and then give lollies to them on national TV and tell the whole world that they are saving the locals sorry a$$e$. It would be an understatement to talk of smoke screen and mirrors, dont you think?

When Dr. M refused to attend some meeting some years ago, he was dubbed a "recalcitrant" by your austral"asian" people, and yet Johnny's refusal to sign the non agression "first strike" treaty with members of ASEAN was fine. Why?? Because he's a Bush Baby???. Double standards to the extreme, dont you agree??

It's good to know that physically you have left the building but mentally and soully, you are still stuck in Malaysia. Cant get enuff of that stuff..

You got to be fair Iso. Since this is a rumour network, what are some of the excellent memories that you have of the country other than Rotis and Teh Tariks??

Uncle Wooblah goes on nightstop for a few days and the kids are having fun on the world wide web. I must say this thread has been fantastic and so much has come out, this is trully a great effort and there is so much truth here it is amazing!!!!

Now down to business:

Virtual Reality old buddy, you really are living in a virtual world fed on virtual B*LL S*IT, in a virtual airline reading virtual history and I hope not flying on a virtual license. Aviation in Malaysia started with.

1) Borneo Airways (Brit run links to BOAC)
2) Federation Air Services (Straits Steamship Company links to BOAC)
3) Malayan Airways (The Tigers) (BOAC boys again)
4) MSA (Malaysian Singapore Airlines) ( Damn BOAC / QANTAS)
5) MAS (QANTAS Capt Bird was the bloke, check the QRH)

The RMAF were not in the picture at all because:

The RMAF was started by the RAF in the form of the Malayan Auxillary Airforce of which Captain Hassan and Suliman Sujak were featured in the original photo in short pants and no wings. The Commandant was a DFC and bar man ex spitfires and mustangs and used to fly the late Tunku Abdul Rahman. Does anybody remember his name???

Can anybody please tell me of any aircraft except their own that the RMAF have shot down. Just one please???????

Can anybody tell me of a Malaysian pilot in any airforce that has shot down an enemy aircraft in any war on this planet?????? I only know of 1.

MAS:

The Camel and that gang were in the first batches of cadets and well the rest is history, we all know what has happened as the years went on.

Toady, well lets read the other posts, as far as the best man for the job I for one don't think so and so do about 99.999% of MAS and the government now!!!!!!!!!

Now to the expat question.

Malaysia will never grow to be the best at anything until Malaysians learn to accept that they are not the best at everything in this world. Proton accepts this, they are working with VW. The Malaysian Space Agency accepts this they are working with NASA and the Ruskies. We use IBM and Compaq computers and fly Airbus and Boeing aircraft. WHY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Because we need these products to prosper and we are not advanced enough to build them ourselves. Maybe one day we will be able to build our own spaceships but THAT DAY IS NOT YET HERE!!! Anybody disagree??????

With Proton we went to the Japs and over the years we absorbed the technology and so today we have attained the ability to build cars but alas it has been many years and dollars later and still to strengthen our young industry we do need VW and to some extent the Japs are still in albeit a very small stake.

In aviation we are definatly not the best and with the closed myopic syndrome we posses we will never grow. We need to combine our knowledge with the knowledge and data that others posses before we can grow and expand and prosper. We must accept the views and knowledge held by others from around the world and let the best culture, knowledge and skills develop within the confines of our industry here in Malaysia.

Presently Malaysia is known for ATPL exam cheating, honary ATPLS and anak2 datuk syndromes. You can laugh all you like at the Americans but it is their multi cultural diversity that has put man on the moon. Jews, Muslims, Blacks, Italians, Polish, Irish, Brits and so on. Yep problems they had and problems the will have but the drive to succeed and the American dream is a reality. Look where the presidents came from. No anak datuk/dato there. Yeah laugh but who's laughing all the way to the bank!!! Anyone disagree???

I am no Yankee lover but the aforementioned is a fact!!!!!!!

And yes the Malaysians and the Arabs and for that matter anybody anywhere can achieve what they (The Americans)have if only they opened their minds and hearts and stopped fighting over stupid things like who is the smartest, who is the best, who is the richest, who is the most respected ect. And got on with working together regardless of race, colour and creed to develop the best culture and systems together. Soloutions are always simple and because we are so far up our @rses it is dark and we cannot find our way and the competition EADS, Boeing, IBM, ect. are laughing all the way to the bank because they know as long as we are divided and don't work together they will rule and we will buy, buy, buy.

ANYONE DISAGREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So lets work together and learn and grow into a true multi national multi skilled multi billion dollar country.

This is my humble wish for all of us in 2005.

Ho Ho Ho and happy holidays to all, keep safe and keep flying,

Wooblah.

Actually, the first DFO in MAS was a Capt Dobson, who was given his marching orders before Bird came on the scene.

Qantas had no operational pilots in MAS when it was formed. All the expat pilots in MAS were those who were flying on the F27 and who were miraculously promoted to the 737 when MAS was formed.

The first incident we had was in Miri when a 737 went off the runway. The captain (who was not a local) disappeared down south before the investigation was complete.

Capt Wooblah, the history is pretty accurate. Couldn't agree with you more as far as the air force pilots are concerned.

The first batch of cadets was not the camel and gang. Their training was sponsored by MARA and not MAS.

I do not disagree that we should all work together for the betterment of aviation in the country. But I do disagree that all expats are in Malaysia for the development of the country and not for their own personal gain.

Capt Wooblah, a very well written non biased statement, and MAStake you need to take a deep breath and drop the Expat deep resentment you suffer from. We can work together...
Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year to all.

Wooblah, excellent post, absolutely excellent post.

Dato MAStake, it is you that Wooblah is talking about. WLM has clearly identified you with the deep seated total resentment towards expats. I have not seen this level of resentment in neighbouring countries of Malaysia. There is no one questioning the preferential national policies, but as Wooblah pointed; luv em or hate em, America is an MULTI-culteral country and has risen to the standards they have because of it, NOT in spite of it....that is the message MAStake...that is the MESSAGE!

You think I was only there a short time. You have no idea how long I was there for. In any other Multi-culteral country I would have had PR by now, if not citizenship, but do you think it was available or offered - NO. Do you think the process of finding out how to do it was there. Fine, if you are a female marrying a Malaysian, you can get PR, and the borang is written ONLY for female applicants. How quaint! How modern world that is!

I, and many expats like me, marry Malaysian girls, and are prepared to live and put our savings, our money, our expertise, our skills, into the place in the hope of building a future, but are frauted by no end of frustrations - not because no one knows what they are doing, but because they (you) don't want us here. You are, yes you, are quite clearly one of these people. Smoke and mirrors, lies and deceptions.

My memories - ahhh there are many sweet one's. The Islands, the food, the history, the family, there is just so much. I will always remember fondly my time there, and would have loved to called Malaysia home, but the picnic basket is not complete without all the sandwiches.

By the way, I see MAS are no considering hiring direct entry Captains and FO'S for widebody fleets. Again those expats that have been there for years have been passed over again; what was it that Wooblah was talking about again. I forget, and so have you.

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year guys....salamat hari natal.

Wink Forever New Frontiers

"So lets work together and learn and grow into a true multi national multi skilled multi billion dollar country. This is my humble wish"

Couldn't agree with you more Wooby. But lets do it in a contructive manner.

For the benefit of good people whom have had enough of the crap with M@$ management, maybe you and other ex-Malaysians can give an insight of what it's like living and working overseas and earning greenbacks. Nothing specific, of course.

Malaysian expats are a relatively new phenomenon, especially after being crudely encouraged by a particular Unta pr!ck to submit applications to the one down south and the few up north. Most are having a good run at their new environment and now we see many 330 and some 777 guys are leaving because of what is still going on in M@$..some of us are of world standards and definitely marketable overseas.

To WLM and Iso, sorry you guys had a tough time there at M@$, DC@ and problems at Immigration. My american better half had a toughtime there too, even though she was "Isteri Warganegara". Had to bloody restamp the passport every two months at the Campbell office after long queues and numerous forms, photos, JP signature and the list goes on. We got out because: not only was the kitchen too hot but rather muggy as well.

Kinda miss the laid back Malaysian lifestyle, hot parties and suppers at various stalls. But it is quite wonderful now to just visiting for a couple of weeks holiday without having to face the bureaucratic nightmare when living there.

Happy Hols and have a wonderful family time to all too.

Merry XMas, Deevali, Raya, Chinese New Year, Usual New Year, Thaipusam, Hannukah and whatever the local aboriginal celebrate!!

Just a question for the "Locals".

Are there any ethnic Chinese (who might be third generation Malasian) flying for MAS?

Iso,of course it's me. When a local states a fact or gives an opinion it is totally disregarded and/or filled with 'deep resentment.' When you slam my country it is always constructive.

Maybe in the season of goodwill you should consider sitting back and having a good look at yourself and your attitude.

After almost 4 decades in aviation and having been an expat for almost 10 years of that I find your replies patronising and condescending.

But of course I'm just a product of the third world and not born with the god-given insight that you obviously possess.

I can't believe this thread has been allowed to continue...
What is being discussed or rumoured has absolutely nothing to do with the original Post Subject!?!
Does anyone have any relevant info regarding what was originally reported, please?
And maybe open up a bitching M@S subject if you want to do that...

No kwaiyai, Transmile won't have to worry about AK being a competitor in the freight business. Any cargo revenue that is made is from whatever excess capacity is available in the cargo hold. No 747-400F's on the way.
