Actually, the first DFO in MAS was a Capt Dobson, who was given his marching orders before Bird came on the scene.

Qantas had no operational pilots in MAS when it was formed. All the expat pilots in MAS were those who were flying on the F27 and who were miraculously promoted to the 737 when MAS was formed.

The first incident we had was in Miri when a 737 went off the runway. The captain (who was not a local) disappeared down south before the investigation was complete.

Capt Wooblah, the history is pretty accurate. Couldn't agree with you more as far as the air force pilots are concerned.

The first batch of cadets was not the camel and gang. Their training was sponsored by MARA and not MAS.

I do not disagree that we should all work together for the betterment of aviation in the country. But I do disagree that all expats are in Malaysia for the development of the country and not for their own personal gain.
