Terryble... If it's only been 3 to 4 weeks since you went for your medical, I'd give it a bit more time. It took them about 4 weeks to get back to me with the contract. To my knowledge, if you're not selected, they let you know pretty quick as evidenced by other experiences posted on this forum. Just be patient man and meanwhile, keep the passion boiling by immersing yourself in more aviation info. Good luck!

EverettWings - Thanks for your comments. I have received a call up from SIA last week for the contract, however I have a small giltch in my medical record (although I have pass my Class 1 Medical), so not confirmed yet as of now.

Hello,
I have heard that should you not be selected after the 1st interview, and you reapply, there will be a 6 month gap before SIA calls you up for 1st interview. Any idea if this is true?
Because I have not been selected after my 1st interview recently and have reapplied, does that mean I can forget about being given another chance till November?...
Regards

There is a minimum period of 6mths between re-application and interview. If you apply anytime in between, your application will be rejected. My next reapplication will be in August 2005.

Thanks Echopapa.
Is this a written rule or a known guideline to everyone? I have sent my re-application immediately upon receiving the notification that I was not selected. Does that mean they will reject my app? Will they notify me?
Sorry I sound so green...cos I am.
Thanks. Regards.

Massey grads having bad rep? I thought that if one has a Bachelor of Aviation or something wouldn't it be an advantage to enter the aviation industry as a pilot or sth?
Also curious because I am rather interested in the BAv course.

HI TangoTango
I believe its more policy that a candidate has to wait a minimum of 6mths between interviews. Don't be too sad, as this time can be translated into a lot of self reflection, improvement and also try to get some renewed sense of belief in yourself.
If you have read my earlier posts, I have gone for first interview 3 times, still not successful..but not givin up as yet.
It doesn't matter if its not meant to be, but as long as they are still keen to give me a shot at the interview, I will try. So don't u feel too disheartened.
Wish u all the best and my only advice to you is, while u continue to harbour your desire for this career, life must go on, don't stall all things for this ... for all you know, you may strike GOLD in other areas and earn so much that you may just earn your wings privately someday and fly solely as a hobby..
Cheers!

When I went for my CAAS PPL Nav exam the other day I had a chat with a Flying college student. He said that at 25 1/2 years u can apply and Max age for applicaton is 32.
Wow only 6 years difference.
Anyone got something to add to this?

I see I see. Another qns.
If i take Bachelor of Aviation degree in Massey University. It would allow me to take my papers all the way to frozen ATPL. I think I would also get a multi-engine rating. Would it be useful in helping me through the Cadet Pilot course like skipping the theory in Seletar and going straight to Jandakot?
Thx

BlazerFlyer,
Easier to get in or not, will still depend on your aptitude. With frozen ATPL you sure have to go thru' the standard selection process. But with frozen ATPL your flying career will not be limited to SIA only. You have very much wider choice of airlines. Lots of LCCs looking for guys with frozen ATPL.
Good Luck.

If you complete the Massey course, you will graduate with a Bachelor in Aviation, with a CPL/IR as well as a frozen Singapore ATPL.
If you are accepted into SIA, the above qualifications will allow you to skip most of the training in Seletar, you will only require to take the Technical Papers (5 papers plus R/T) and Performance A paper. On passing these papers, you will then go straight to Maroochydore for the Learjet 45 Advanced Training, skipping Jandakot completely.
One more thing... I know of other SQ pilots who had LASIK done, and they are flying already. So, you CAN still get into SIA with LASIK, but must have at least one year from the procedure to ensure your eyesight has stabilised. Check with your doctor on this. You should be able to get an endorsment for your application.

You will (mosy likely) find out which company you're in when you sign the contract, just read it carefully and you will know.
