Hi RNP2,
What could they ask in indian climatology? Also, please advise what to prepare for CRM? Thanks. |
I was asked to talk about the indian monsoons,so they may ask you questions like this.just get an idea as to what crm is and that should be good enough.
A friend of mine was asked as to what crm is and how it benefits an airline. |
Anybody have an idea as to what they do in the medicals ? ( just in case if the 3rd day they decide to conduct the medical)
1. Is it a dgca type examination ? if so is it less or more intensive? 2. Do they have any endurance type tests ? like making you run etc ? Thanks . Ps. no i am not getting ahead of myself , just curious :) |
Interview:
My interview lasted for about 45 mins. HR questions were: About yourself, Why flying as a career, why Jet Airways, they asked me about my non-flying job, etc. Flying related: TORA/TODA/ASDA,etc, Induced Drag, Various methods to reduce induced drag, Winglets, why 777 don't have winglets but 747's do, RVSM, how flaps work, types of flaps and how they affect the aerodynamics, types of entries into a hold, V1, V2, etc speeds, I was given an enroute chart and asked to explain the entire route from Delhi to Lucknow. In the beginning I was asked which subject I had prepared the best. I wore a suit with tie. A shirt and tie is well accepted but make sure you were a light coloured shirt, preferably White. Socks should be the same colour as your trousers, preferably black. IPT: I was given a VECC 01 (Can't remember L or R) VOR/DME chart about half an hour before the test to go through and asked questions based on the chart. T/O on auto pilot and once airborne asked to fly a specific heading, then intercept a couple of outbound radials, then a couple of inbound radials, entry into the hold, 2 holds, and then as per the published procedure fly outbound and intercept finals for the VOR/DME approach. Charts will be given, study them inside out. Read the jeppessen manual and know each and every symbol. Please practice DME Arcs, ILS/DME approaches, NDB approaches and intercepts, Missed approach procedures. Just to make sure you know everything. Medicals: Following are the blood & urine tests you've to do: 1. CBC 2. Liver Function Test 3. Prothrombin Time Test 4. Fasting Blood & Urine 5. Post Sugar Blood & Urine ( 2 hrs after consuming 75 gms of glucose, you can't eat anything in between) 6. Urine Routine 7. Stool Routine 8. Lipid Profile Other than this, you've to do Stress Test (on the treadmill), Opthal, ENT, Audiometry, Chest X-ray & General Physical. If there are any abnormalities, you'll be asked to repeat the test again with certain instructions. Hope it helps. |
@ P51-Mustang Thanks a lot :) .

INTERVIEW
Hi frnds
any idea how many vacancies and how many cleared the GD round ?? I know this actually doesnt matter as they will allow the best to proceed but still i wanted to know.... if any info plz share.... thanks |
@FL 500
According to various rumours the number of pilots required are pretty huge ( a 3 digit number < 500 ) |
@Cyril
A three digit number ?? hmmm from what i have heard there are still Type Rated candidates in various stages of inductment , suppy etc and the 2011 guys have not even been sent for their TR . I wonder why they need so many pilots . . . |
Two words
Training Capacity There is no room to train all these candidates in one go and they lack the necessary TRI / TRE as well Thats the reason why they are recruiting expat pilots on all fleets . There are not enough captains Sim slots are the biggest issue considering there are about 100 or more candidates from the 2011 recruitment alone Only if you have the training capacity in place can you hire and train so many pilots I wonder why they need so many pilots . . . On top of that they will be using the 737 for more night flights into Abu Dhabi from various Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities in India In order to fill pilots on the 777 you need to upgrade them from the 330 or the 737 fleet . But before doing that you need to have an adequate number of pilots ( both captains and FO's ) trained and ready to take over on the 737 / 330 fleet Some 737 pilots will be upgraded to FO's on the 777 and some FO's will be upgraded to Captains Since the 777 will be flying long haul the number of pilots per airplane can be as high as 30 per aircraft compared to the 10-14 on the 737 My theoretical estimate based on the 100 expat captains that Jet wanted to hire on the 777 fleet would result in about 300 co pilot vacancies I have a feeling that the vacancies will be much higher.... All in all good news for the unemployed CPL holders :) |
@ Cyril
hmm your explanation seems to justify the need for new pilots , definitely a good news . :ok: One question though, is the training done in Mumbai ? I was under the impression they send their pilots off to some TR center , iv'e heard of Alpha Aviation in UK etc . So if it really is the lack of TR facilities they can tie up with other facilities maybe like CAE or something , there are a ton of them. . . . |
So,, the interviews start this monday.
All the best to all the fellow aviators who are going to appear for the same. Please share your experiences after the interview and IPT. Thanks |
Typerated people had their interviews today. How was it people? Please share your experiences.
I have heard that some interviews have been postponed until further notice. Also, the IPT for people who had interviews today has also been rescheduled. Does anybody have any updates in this regard? |
How are the interviews going?
Can anyone please share the questions? It would be of great help. Thank you. |

|
hey everyone ,
so this is what i have learnt is being asked in the interviews so far: jepessen-enroute/approach both basic aerodynamics indian climatology basic performance anything else we should be studying ? thanks :) |
Since a lot of people seem to be getting asked question about Jeppesen IFR plates/charts, I'd recommend this website.
Jeppesen Chart Clinic On it, he's posted all articles of the Jeppesen Chart Clinic. It's excellent reading material. This does not just explain the legend like the basic Jepp guide but goes into detail about different aspects of the plates, why certain things are represented on it, why is terrain shaded in different colors etc, just to name a few examples. It's a good refresher for Jeppesen related stuff. All the best to you guys/girls attending the interview http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/sr...ons/icon14.gif |
LOC - D .

Pepole who havnt passed GD in nov/dec have got emails from jet stating that they will be called for a re GD in april, its a good news But Does it mean they have many vacancies or pepole in stage three are disappointing them:ugh: .
|
Guys any update on when the IPTs are happening ? are they conducting them on the very next day after a successful interview or after a 2-3 day gap ?
|
Come on guys. please speak up.
Its really difficult for out station candidates to stay in Mumbai for 6-7 days. If they conduct IPT the very next day it would be easy for non mumbaikars. |
Its not fixed , my friend is local he gave interview on thursday and was called for ipt on monday; Another friend was asked to come after 8 days but that was sim check.
|
One of my friend had his interview today and now he's having his sim check on 13th :)
|
Thanks...Well its really difficult for me at least, since I am coming from Delhi.
Sameer...Could you pls share or ask your friend to share the questions that were asked in the interview. |
Interview questions shared by a friend of mine. she had her interview on 12th Feb
these were her words:
""they started with introduction...then family...then approach plates ....enroute charts..basic technical ...working of asi, vsi, altimeter...pitot block static block ...jet engine working ...bypass....then metar, speci...trend in a metar is valid for how much time....taf... In case of approach plates and enroute charts u must know in and out of everything And whatever u say the next question has max chances to be picked out of your words...be careful Don't use words jinka ache se matlab ni pata ho. Incase u dont know something...dont guess But otherwise they r friendly people...allow u to be comfortable..."" hope it will help.. :) |
Hey guys had my interview on the 10th .
The questions were - Introduction , personal questions . Compressor stall , why , what does it lead to ? Read a Metar , basic questions on qnh , types of fog , types of icing Enroute chart - what projection , why ? why not mercator ? [ duration 30 min] My ipt was on the 13th - Chart was Mumbai vor rwy27 Profile - Takeoff - climb rwy heading to 4000 , two outbound intercepts , 2 inbound intercepts , fly on a random heading for some time ( to disorient you) , then come inbound for a vor dme approach. [duration 30 min] Arrange for atleast a 4 day stay . Some people had their ipts as much as 5 days after the interview. Know your basics , all the best :ok: |
Enroute charts are lambart projections only :rolleyes:
|
@winger2909
TRTO is not fixed, the initial batch of 16 from the TFO 2011 is going to CTC Southhampton. It can be at other places too. The duration is going to be around 8 weeks including ground training. We're being charged 30 lakhs for the same. |
@ P-51 Mustang
Just wanted know , wthr these 16 candidates will have the ground classes in India or will they directly proceed for type rating and have their ground class at the TRTO. What about the rest 8 candidates , are they being sent to a different TRTO or they have to wait for some more time, because I heard they had called 24 candidates for joining on 20 Mar 2014 |
@Mach5,
We were 24 on the briefing day, out of which 8 still have to get details of their training. Can't say when that will be. The ground training will be at the TRTO only for the initial 16 and they said that they're trying to get slots for the remaining 8 asap. So it can be at some other location too, completely depends on where they manage to get sim bookings. FYI, it wasn't the day of joining. We were just briefed on the training process and they sorted out the documents. Our joining will be only after we clear the base check which will be once we are back. @winger2909 I hope you're right. They weren't too perspicuous about other things like how long will it take for us to join, etc. Supernumary flights, Fam, LOFT will be only once we are back from training. |
The 30 lakhs is upfront ? damn thats expensive . . .
|
30 Lakhs isn't upfront. We have to pay 20 Lakhs upfront and 10 Lakhs in Bank Guarantee. Over a period of 36 months they will deduct 10 Lakhs and later release the Bank Guarantee.
|
@ P51 Mustang
Thnx for the update |
Finished with my IPT
Very basics.. Ahemdabad VOR RWY 23 1 outbound and 1 inbound intercept. Direct entry into the hold VOR approach. Remember to listen to the instructions and Read-back to the instructions. You just need to operate the Course and Heading bug. All the best. |
@P-51 Mustang
Do you have any idea how many total guys are there in the TFO 2011 batch. And how much time is it going to be for the joining of all these guys. Because TFO 2013 selected guys can expect to join only after the previous batch is inducted.
