Dragonair Recruitment

Hi there fellow members! I'm new in this forum, so pardon me for the intrusion. I could'nt help notice the discussion about dragonair PQC as I have also applied for the f/o position recently. This is not the first time, as in, I've applied to Fly Dubai with CTC recruitment, Cathay Pacific but unfortunately they never respond! The replies that you are quoting are actually automated replies! I got about 4000 hrs total, on dash-8 of which 1800+ is P1 and a ICAO ATPL. It is a lot more than any of the requirements for the positions. I still don't understand why I do not even get a respond!!:ugh: I am very frustrated indeed as I am currently unemployed as the airline I worked for went bankrupt! Anyone got any suggestions for me? Please shoot!

Thankyou!

Considering the number of applications they presumably receive it is safe to assume the batch would include people with low to many thousands of hours. This just highlights you can fly a plane. But do you have the “smarts” that meet the airline’s particular standard?

So, how do airlines pick individuals to invite? The majority probably meet the requirements to some degree outlined on their website. So who do they invite? All of them? That would be inefficient. The selection process at Dragonair/CX is rigorous, to say the least. Of the invited individuals the majority are rejected, including captains. They have very experienced HR Teams who screen shortlisted candidates through various methods. You must remember, the selection process is solid, requiring exceptional performances in every area of testing (foresighted candidates begin preparing for an invitation before even being shortlisted. Are you one of them?).

Initially, to get a look-in, your application would have to be impeccable. Your English skills would have to be perfect, irrespective of the language level requirement. Your grammar, punctuation and written content would have to be of the highest order, zero mistakes, and pertinent to the company profile. You have to say the things they want to hear. Do you know what that is?

You could be competing against people whom exceed your qualifications by an extensive margin. You have to be thoughtful and quite aware of your competitors and how they would proceed to fill out their application. They’re just like you trying to get a job. Just like there is a guy with fewer qualifications than you. You’re all charging for the same spot. Thus then, if you don’t get an invite, your application, in its entirety, fell short of the mark. If you understand “perfection”, you are half way there (i.e. you might get an invite).

You should have this overview in your mind with an outline of your application strategy. This then could turn an airline’s curiosity of you into their undivided attention.

Dear Nas,
Thanks for the advise! But that is exactly what I had foolowed actually. Well for starters, the application is in an online format, so there are hardly any room for errors there! I just put in all the facts right and check them like a hundred times! As for the questions, like 'Why I would like to join them and what are the other skills required for a successful pilot etc'... I am not ashamed to say that I actually got hired professional's help to have them composed. I got copy writers from 'Grey,' one of Uk's best ad agencies to have it gone! Not that I couldn't have done it myself but like you said, regardless of the level of English, it has to stand out! So I tried my best and got the best that money could buy! Of-course, I had my own inputs, but the composition and choice of words were awesome from the professionals! I was very glad with it! However, still no luck with employment but I'm still pushing on. What better can I do?
Take care bro!

That's a smart move. Actually, I had my own CV and cover letter professionally done for me. In fact, it was done by a captain who works in recruitment. It was pretty sharp, especially the CV. Gets noticed a lot. Best move I made was getting a pro to do it! Makes you want to read it.

Anyway, you obviously recognise the importance of getting an application done properly. With your level of experience and perseverence you will undoubtedly secure employment sooner or later.

Just keep doing what you're doing. It will come.

Hi just some update for you guys I just got an email from recruitment they said still no schedule for PQC at the moment.

schweizer2 12th Mar 2013 07:25

I got the same e-mail. Nothing planned for PQC atm :(

lkcmss2000 12th Mar 2013 14:08

atm.... Actually I don't think they have anything for us in the future too....

PlaneWhisperer 18th Mar 2013 00:11

Thank you guys for keeping us updated on this, I am considering applying soon. It's very frustrating as it seems they are hiring ab initio all the time. I have the same situation here in Aus with the JQ program which has put advanced applications on hold

lkcmss2000 20th Mar 2013 06:04

In aviation no news sometime is good news.... On hold mean you are not rejected..... Waiting is long but in the end is worth it!
