Hi, is there anyone going to have stage2 on 25Mar?
Please contact me.:ok:

AviatorPac 5th Mar 2015 05:50

Hi all, long time reader and first time poster.

I have been invited to HK to interview for the AE SO scheme.

I am studying up at the moment and part of that study is looking into Hong Kong as a place to live. While it seems nice, it is obvious that money is important!

Does anyone have an accurate figure of what you might expect to earn as an SO? Some figures include housing allowance, some don't etc etc.

Any clarification is greatly appreciated!

wantobe 5th Mar 2015 09:42

SO Pacjkage is
Monthly in HKD
1st year : salary : 36225 HKD
Hourly duty pay blocked to 84h : 3622HKD
HK pilot allowance : 10000HKD

TOTAL : 49847HKD/month

STAGE 1A - MATHS TEST

Question for those who have completed 1A ..

There was a question that asked you to look at the ISA/altitude chart and the question asked you what the altitude was and said give your answer in thousands (e.g. 42) - what I want to know is did you answer '42' or '42000'?

Answers hugely appreciated !

Your question pretty much answers your question...

AviatorPac 9th Mar 2015 01:56

For those that have done the 1A assesment, how did you find the level of diffuclty for the technical questionare and the compass test?

I am using Skytest at the moment but I am unsure of what to anticipate for the actual interview as Skytest has a HUGE range of difficulty in terms of maths questions. It even asks physics and chemistry questions :ooh:

Is the JKI booklet still being issued by CX for pre-interview prep?

The old one dated February 2000?

Thanks.

I was just wondering if anyone has finished 1b last week and still waiting for the result? as the saying goes, "no news is good news", hope those of us who are still waiting, have passed 1b and allocated into the same group interview ;)

ollieb123 15th Mar 2015 01:29

Hi guys,

Currently studying for my initial stage of the application process and am looking into apps/software to help me prepare properly. Have noticed that there are several different ones out there and was wondering if anyone has any experience or knowledge as to which is the best?

johnson717 15th Mar 2015 13:01

to be honest, I don't think you need any sort of practice software for cx initial tests, they are not too difficult at all.

Some of my friends did skytest, and they have got passed it.

In my opinion, you better start studying the company background, flight school background and some technical knowledge (level is directly proportional to your aviation background) in advance

Cathay Pacific Cadet Pilot Programme

For those who have read posts from 2-3 years ago. Several highlighted time to JFO and commands would increase and would take possibly 15 years. 2.5 years later. JFO courses on the airbus is now 3 years. Command courses are increasing and with the increasing airframe deliveries as well as 65 year old retirements (rumour has it that it can go to 67 at some point)
By economies of scale and time and place, those who did join then got on the right wave.

Beech58 16th Mar 2015 23:21

Does anyone have any digital copies of any cpl or atpl theory books so I could study for the initial interview in Perth on the 30th march? got called yesterday so not much notice :bored:
Also anyone who has done the initial whats involved in the abstract reasoning test?
thanks

wantobe 17th Mar 2015 03:15

Hi Beech58, thats great news mate. May I ask when you applied ? bit of a shame they sprung it up on you. Thats why I have already started preparing in the hope I may get an interview soon.

As for the reasoning test, I believe its based on the Ravens advanced matrices. If you google this you'll get an idea of what its about.

Cheers and good luck! keep us posted!

Beech58 17th Mar 2015 03:19

Thanks for that,

Applied in December, Just need a refresher basically did my cpl test 4 years ago! And maths lol finished school 12 years ago...

good luck :-)

Practice

If you do need practice for 1a COMPASS or 1b reasoning test, latestpilot.com is all you need.

Beech58 18th Mar 2015 05:41

Maths test or not?

I am going through the advanced entry channels and the email I received says I will be doing the abstract reasoning test, general interview and technical multiple choice. No mention of maths test, Im hoping I dont have to do one as I am at 1900 hours?

Thanks :-)

AE

Has anyone done the 1a/1b AA test recently?

I am studying the maths/physics questions on latest pilots but I am not sure how much to study in terms of question difficulty.

I have heard from some that the questions are similar to easy mode on latest pilots. Any input would be appreciated!

Stage 1A (Ab-initio) on 1st April

Hi everyone,

I have lurked here since my application to Cathay in August 2013 and have only just been called for interview / stage 1A / 1B. To be honest I forgot about my application and filed it under the "what could have been" folder in my mind.

However, recent existing job etc has caused me to re-evaluate some of my choices and as it happens, CX recruitment call has come at quite an opportune time.

I am in HK now studying and generally swotting up what I can practically do in between now and the interview.

Any last minute tips just to settle my nerves?

Kind regards everyone.

Oldie
