Cheers.

AE

I applied for AE 2 days ago. Any idea how long it takes for a reply?

kycfi85 22nd Dec 2014 00:44

Apparently there is a big back log for AE from a long time ago. So, not until all of those are called up...

Labrosse 22nd Dec 2014 14:12

Anyone else unable to update their application on the careers website over the last few days??

CodyBlade 23rd Dec 2014 02:38

They need the Right of Abode in order to get application through... So unless you have a connection to Hk , its a dead end.
One of the pre-requisites is a basic understanding of written English.

So what ever you read on the career web page holds true.

On the flip side, a HK national applying to join Pinoy Airlines will elicit what response?

Cathay IV prep

Hey guys,
I know this thread is a little old however just got back from final interview round at Cathay and thought I might add my 2 cents.
The sim check was a bit stressful but I bucked up and went for a sim sesh before hand. Best decision and highly recommended if you haven't flown a larger aircraft before. Behavioural went well so fingers crossed. Hopefully should hear early in the new year...
Did anyone else do a sim session before hand? I live in Perth and this guy has just opened up a new business so didn't have to fly to Sydney to use the sim there. Highly recommend - think it was called 747 Flight sensation. Was a little out of the way but an total steal compared to the Qantas sim which I had considered going to but at 5 grand, was totally out of my budget considering an FO's salary on a regional airline.
Looking forward to hearing how everyone goes...give us a shout of you are in Perth and need a hand with study.
Cheers,
LF

Hi guys,

I am going to have my stage 1a in two weeks from now and 1b in the next day. I hold CPL. Does anyone know if a captain will be there during stage 1b for experienced applicant?

When to expect AE calls

Hi guys,
I had applied for AE programme two years back, had failed to notice that the profile gets deleted if i do not update. So i regenerated a new PRN and profile last week.

When can we expect to get calls for AE, I have 250+TT and Degree. Not a HKID holder. I hope this fulfills the min. requisites.

Please do let us know if any expats have started getting calls!:O

I have a couple of questions regarding the SO job:
1.Are all SO's recruited for the passenger division or is there an option to fly freight?
2.I have read that all recruited pilots go thru 90 hours of simulator training? Is there any truth to that?
3.Do we get a full type rating or is it one of those ratings for relief pilot?
4.previous applicants have said the HR asks if you were given an option to fly one of our fleet which one would it be?Do they take into consideration what we answer and maybe give that same a/c we want!

1. Depends. CX operates the 747 freight and passenger fleet together so SOs on the 747 fleet would fly both passenger and freighter flights.

2. Not entirely sure but once you get back from FTA Adelaide and are assigned to a fleet, you'll be spending around three months on the sim to receive line training and your a type rating.

3. SOs get what's called a P2X rating, which is initially a relief pilot rating. The P2X hours that your rack up as an SO count at half rate to the 1500 total hours needed to eventually obtain a HKCAD ATPL license.

4. They absolutely couldn't care less. They're just asking to see if you know enough about the company and the CX fleet. They might ask you more technical questions once you've answered to gauge your familiarity with planes.

gene88 28th Dec 2014 16:23

johnson717 31st Dec 2014 11:18

Chapfo 31st Dec 2014 13:07

After going through 1b, how long is it until stage2? Not news of stage2, but until actual interview/exercise dates.
I've extended my visit to HK for Stage1, but would like to know if I should just stay in HK and wait or return to Canada first.

Pilot852 31st Dec 2014 13:50

From my experience it was 4 months between 1b and stage 2

bravob 31st Dec 2014 18:45

Stage2finding 2nd Jan 2015 01:13

stage 2 at 12/1

hey if anyone got stage 2 invitation at 12/1. please PM me. we got 4 people now.

fe_fkf 2nd Jan 2015 15:08

Got invited for 1b in mid Jan...If i have zero flying hour, anyone know if the interview will be conducted by HR only or HR + pilot?

Thanks!

johnson717 3rd Jan 2015 03:21

it should be still a hr + a pilot, but the technical questions won't be going too deep, normally within what you can find on the company website and jki ;) but note down anything you cannot answer during the interview, they will probably ask you again during your final

Glidestar64 4th Jan 2015 11:10

Hello again chaps,

Just wondered wether the HKCAD form to fill in was only for international applicants? Also would anyone know how long does it take for processing by the CAD? I presume CX had to send it to the HKCAD for approval and then they would contact CX to say wether it's okay or not

Cheers!

Wings23 4th Jan 2015 12:05

Hi all,

Has anybody that was requested to send documents before December 22nd received an invite for final interview yet?

Regards,

Wings

Glidestar64 4th Jan 2015 12:10

Hey,

Nop, still nothing.

Natca 4th Jan 2015 14:05

Yes... Took two months for me to hear

Dario540 4th Jan 2015 18:29

TT interview

Folks,

Is anyone invited to the TT final interview end of Jan?

I was invited directly to the final TT.

Does anyone have recent experience on the tech questions? interview days profile?etc. something useful

Appreciate

Wings23 4th Jan 2015 19:36

I was referring to the people who had been requested to return documents on or before the 22nd december. Trying to get a timeframe as to how long each step of the process takes.

Best of luck to those that go to the interview.

Natca 5th Jan 2015 01:33

I'm in your same boat, I would expect they combined stage one and two. Personally preparing for the worst but hey I feel like I have learned or re hashed a good a mouth of my old CFI type learning from years ago.

trancheur 5th Jan 2015 13:21

so the guys call for interview are from hong kong?
i applied 2 years ago and still no answer.

tobz92_ymen 5th Jan 2015 23:38

What sort of hours do guys have that are getting called up for Advanced Entry have?

kycfi85 6th Jan 2015 02:19

What sort of hours do guys have that are getting called up for Advanced Entry have?
Not actively seeking employment from Cathay, at the moment, but i've had an application in for over a year. 1000TT and 350 of that is in multi engine aircraft... No call from them. I update the app periodically, as my my TT is always changing.
