Macarto,

A lot of information on SIA can easily be found on their website...

dariusme 7th Jul 2008 14:04

hi senna,
no i'm not from Ipoh. I'm a singaporean and i'm the one which one of the cadet chase after i went out of the room. The interviewer say he forget to brief me abt the bond thing so ask me back:hmm:. So which of them are you? Are you the cadet who just came back from oversea training? Overgard something abt that when you guys are talking. Btw, i was told that i will be informed of the interview result 3 days later. I was wondering if its 3 working day or 3 full days? Any idea?
Btw, do you have any email? I would like to find out more abt stuff from you. Maybe you can direct me to where i can find out more information or where to look at to handle the 2nd interview questions...if i manage to pass the 1st one...hahha

Here is some advice before you are identified and disqualified. Very easy to do (for you to be identified or for you to buck up. You choose).

As easy as 123, since you want to be spoonfed and can't be bothered to do research.

1. Read the damn threads.

2. Read the damn threads again.

3. Notice something: if those giving advice can make the effort to type in complete sentences, you sure too can bloody well make the effort to ask questions in complete sentences not SMS speak.

Take these 3 pointers as the start of your journey into the culture of SIA.

Roadmap?! Even before you are accepted you want to show the "I'm here, teach me" attitude. Well let's see just how far into the process you will make it.

Hey guys,
Is there anyone going for second interview on 16th July?

FurtherMathematics 4th Aug 2008 20:09

this thread is getting really quiet.

where r all the usual buzzing man...? btw, i think captainlim's site got hacked, can anyone confirm that?:ok:

bpp81 5th Aug 2008 10:24

some friendly advice to all :)

1) Please bring a pen for interviews... please.

2) Please follow the instructions about the eye check up closely. if you're not sure what is a visual acuity test...google it.

3) Please have all...all admin stuff prepared, so you won't be sweating watching the cadets running up and down helping you photocopy stuff. heehee

4) Bring tissue to wipe ur sweat from the walk into the centre... and also when you kan-chiong because you didn't prepare your admin stuff well.

5) Smile

:)

Hi all,

Do I need to attach supporting documents when I apply online via SIA's website? There's a section where one can upload files, but I am unable to upload the scans of my certificates because the file sizes are too big. So, along with the prescribed application form, is it sufficient if I upload cover letter and resume? It is not stated on the website that applicants have to upload supporting docs. Thanks :)

FurtherMathematics 5th Aug 2008 20:14

thanks dude. i think the problem was fixed. but abt a month ago, all i got frm that url were irrelevant stuffs.:)

grey_11 14th Aug 2008 03:09

Seems like this thread has quietened down. Can anyone help me with my previous question? I would really appreciate any input. Thanks.

SmileAirlines 16th Aug 2008 10:34

I am also aware that there are current cadets in the Admin office screening these applications (Hope i wasnt sabotaged).
Where do you get this info? Applications are still screened by the HR personnel based on the requirements stipulated by the company. The cadets in the admin office are just there to help, but not the make any decision whatsoever, and definitely not to "sabotage" anyone.

I have met all the requirements accept one.I do not have an "a" level coz i started flying straight after my "o" levels.
You have answered your own question. Sad to say that the requirements are very rigid, with almost no exception. If you don't meet the requirements, chances are that they won't call you for interview.

FurtherMathematics 18th Aug 2008 17:02

Hi, you don't need to upload any supporting documents regarding your educational or medical status.
key in all the stuff in the online application and wait for their reply.
it's only on that day of interview at the training centre where you bring the original copies of all the stuff and photocopies of the said stuff.
and before the interview you will have to go for an eye-examination with a recognised/approved eye-doctor, which you will have to pay with your own money.

i hope this helps and i sincerely wish you good luck.

grey_11 19th Aug 2008 08:01

Hey FurtherMathematics, thank you for your response. This is what I thought as well and I appreciate your confirmation. Sadly, my application has been rejected without an interview although I meet all their requirements. Very disappointed but I guess I just have to try again.

LittleFish 22nd Aug 2008 14:35

Dear all,

There is this burning question at the back of my mind and it's eating me up slowly. Hopefully those in the know can shed some light. Firstly I am a Singaporean who has just graduated with a non-engineering degree from NUS.

Strangely enough, I was called up for the interview when I was still an undergraduate (24 turning 25yo) in Aug'07. Went all the way, but crashed out during the final interview (two exams the day before took its toll on me I suspect). It has been haunting me ever since. Few months down the road, decided to cut short my honours yr and took up the cabin crew position that I was offered.

After flying a few months as cabin crew, the desire to be in the cockpit increases with each sector. Now the million dollar question is: do I have another shot in this lifetime? Spoke to a few captains/FOs and all told me to never give up and keep on applying. But the one management pilot I have spoken to during my cabin crew ccrm told me my chances are slim. I am giving myself 18months (thats the cabin crew bond) to see whether I can make it or not (in all sense); 'cos if the door's close forever, I'll have to accept it and focus my energy elsewhere (love the flying lifestyle, but cabin crew isnt really long term for me).

Any kind souls out there can shed some light on my situation? Do pm me if its not convenient. Am thinking of finding an appropriate time to have a chat with Ms J.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thermal Image 23rd Aug 2008 04:26

The Ms J you refer to is a blocker not a helper.

A better strategy is to demonstrate interest, eg join the Seletar Flying Club, get a PPL, network with management pilots (the ones that matter). If you are well liked, Ms J will be told NOT to block you. And she will comply.

Left Wing 25th Aug 2008 07:24

singapore001..your interview will be a LOT MORE than std cadet...and they will expect you to know EVERYTHING...about commercial flying and enought on basic jets, jeppsen charts, weather/met etc etc etc...so study hard !:ok:

singapore001 25th Aug 2008 07:45

Thank you Left Wing and Beeped

Thank you both, Left Wing and Beeped,

Beeped's advice sounded more practical, however, i am not going to leave out whatever Left Wing had claimed too. Sometimes, i might just get extra lucky.

Left Wing, i cant imagine them (the interviewers) taking out a Jeppesen Chart for me to brief them an approach. ;) Even if they do, i think i am ready for that. Anyway, 'wilco'

If my 1st interview lasts for more than 10 mins, i know i will be in for some real grueling :8

Thanks to all again!! Now, i'll have to start digging out all my ATPL books again..

Anyone in for the KUL interview pls advise...

FurtherMathematics 25th Aug 2008 21:02

dude relax. just finish ur CA bond n apply again. there is no need to pay a decent sum of money on a PPL n waste ur own time, cause SIA dun care if u got what licence. good luck.
