Its not very nice to post Edward's contact in the open. All necessary requirements are stated in the advertisements and website. If you really feel that you wanna help someone you can pm him direct the contact. I believe the HR are already busy enough as they are and applications should go through proper channels.

The website says GCE ‘A’ Level. Polytechnic Diploma or Degree. In addition, you must have obtained a minimum of 5 credits in the GCE ‘O’ Level or its equivalent.

If you have an equivalent you do not need to sit for the 'O's

Thanks for the contact info. I highly appreciate that. I also agree with jagr that it might be not a good idea to expose the contact info in the public. I believe that you have considered avoiding email spammers as I see you post the email address as an image :) But as you know, nowadays there are automated web tools that can read letters in images. Any chance to re-edit your post? :ok:

I went over the syllabus of GCE O level... It seems my junior high school diploma is an equivalent. But the grades in the diploma are in numeric format. Any clue if I need to convert the grades to O level grade format?

jagr 4th Feb 2008 09:56

not necessary if it is recognised, they will do the necessary conversion themselves if required.

I see... thanks...

Just got the mail for the 2nd Interview.... I would assume nothing much has changed apart from the removal of the Situational tests from the procedure... Anyone here attending the 2nd round next week? And btw this thread is really brilliant... helped clear quite a few doubts

Cheers

Did anyone apply for the cadet pilot position during the JobsDB Career Expo at Suntec 2 weeks ago? I applied then but haven't received a reply from SIA yet. Was initially very excited but am slowly getting a little too anxious now :uhoh:

showtime777 5th Feb 2008 09:45

the recruitment is on-going. you could try applying direct on the website.

SmileAirlines 5th Feb 2008 13:20

airplane 79,
Indonesian Ebtanas and STTB SMP are indeed equivalent to GCE O Level.. There is no need to convert the grades, but it is advisable to produce the certified copy of the translation in English, and put a note that those grades are based on the scale of 1 to 10. It worked for me... :)

Porcupine82,
Meeting the minimum standard doesn't grant you an interview. There are other factors that put into the selection, such as ECA records, work experience, etc.. However you can always re-submit your application.. I'm not sure how the new computerized system works, but one of my coursemates applied 6 times before he was called for an interview.

SIA Cabin Crew applying for Cadet pilot programme.

Hi Guys,

I am currently working with SIA as cabin crew for slightly over 2 years.I turn 25 this month.I have always wanted to work as a pilot for SQ since i was young.I applied to RSAF when i was 19 but didnt get through.

I currently have Frozen ATPL with multi-engine Instrument rating and appx 260hours from Australia. But i got all the qualifications in 2002.

Would it be an ideal time to apply for Cadetship? Are there any suggestions which i should take note of before i apply?cos i would rather be prepared the 1st time to give me the best chance of success.

Any help is very much appriciated.Thank you.

Hi everyone,

First-timer here. Just wish to find out more about SIA before joining it. Have been hearing strange tales of cadetship...Rather confused about investing my future with SIA now.

Maybe someone can help shed some truth on whether are these tales true or false? These tales concern cadets going through the training.

showtime777 15th Feb 2008 08:18

what tales are you referring to? need to be specific for anyone here to clear your doubts.

overmars 16th Feb 2008 00:42

One really good tale is that the majority of cadets who go through the system actually make it out alive and fly jets for many years.

You sure you still don't want to invest your future in this? Level Four would be very interested to know...

Interview

Hi all,

Good news! I have been called up for the initial interview with SIA in mid-march in KL. I've been reading the forums for tips and info but I have a few questions that might be a little unique.

First, just a bit of background. I am a Malaysian and currently doing my CPL/IR with Frozen ATPL. I have completed all my ground papers and am now flying the twin-engines and only have a couple of weeks and about 30hours to go to get my CPL/IR (woohoo!). I am also finishing up my IT degree part-time with 1 more semester to go.

Firstly, what should I expect for the initial interview? I applied for the Cadet Pilot position on the website as it was the only one available.

Secondly, would I have to re-take all my ground school tests? I have all passes in the CAA UK exams (CA6, CA2 etc) with 1 re-sit for Radio Aids. Would I also have to re-do all my flying right from the start?

Thanks heaps in advance for your help. Wish me luck!
