johny boy
seems like there is no use of directing this herd to some good.

for all who want to be milked day and night after joining spice(if u could somehow), just an insight:
1. since last 6 yrs, roster has never been stable. sometimes they get in excess with f/o, other times, captains, and last but not the least, recently they ran short of cabin crew. either case your life as a pilot is screwed coz of more than frequent roster changes. there is absolutely no planning at all. roster works on the principle of "let the day pass, lets see for tomorrow".
2. terms and conditions of employment and even the salary keeps changing with the changing management.
3. water, food and environment onboard would make u commit suicide, nobody respects a pilot in this company, AT ALL. E.g. as a PIC, you cant even ask an engg to change a tyre because it looked "worn out" to you, he would change it as per his wish, and his senior's instructions.
4. management treats all the pilots as overpaid brats and every fornight, comes up with some new crap (in the definitions of cost cutting) that makes your life more miserable.
5. you as a pilot are responsible for everybody's mistake, who-so-ever you happen to deal with, be it a transport supervisor, a dispatcher, a airport commercial staff, an engg staff, last but not the least, the clerk class category's employee sitting in the head office of spicejet. e.g. your sim forms in your office folder are their responsibilty, but they would call you to pay them a visit to update your folder in the office, when it was your off day, and above all, rostering deptt still would count that day as a off day.
6. there are no BOLD PRINTED, WRITTEN, DEFINED policies/boundaries for anything. for instance, some day you overslept due cumulative fatigue for an early morning departure and next thing you come to know is your salary is cut for 15 days because some rat in the company (who you dont even know) thought that might be a good punishment for you and an example for the rest.

I hope this will be my last post in this thread of this HOPELESS COMPANY.

my sincere advise to you all, though i strongly believe that you all wont understand what i am about to say now: take a break from all this and go on a holiday if possible. but whenever next u aim for an airline exam, please make sure you dont end up paying Rs.20,000/- for it, be it SPICEJET EXAM/SCAM.

i think a simpler solution to your problem will be to pick up the phone and dial the HR no. which must be present somewher earlier in this thread .

Thumbs down

This thread is too long for me to read it from the begining... But heres a summary... Around 350 ppl gave the sg exam last attempt. This included a mix of experienced as well as cpl holders.

Out of these 18 were selected. The whole exam was nothing but an eye wash. Please do not waste your money in sg, unless you have contacts... In which case, the sum charged will be way more than 20k x 100 ... Do the math...

Scam jet

One of my friends visited spice jets office gurgaon..
He managed to meet someone in hr dept.
And was told that all of us have wasted out parents money by becoming pilots...we should find some other jobs...and spice jet has their own terms of selecting candidates...he told that all the pilots are valueless because only 18 cleared out of 350...
And he has over 1000 applications from type rated people...
What do u expect from such a company who demoralize aspiring pilots...

I'm calling bullsh!t on this post. I worked at SG for three years as a captain and could hardly get HR to talk to me. I find it very hard to believe that your "friend" walked in off the street, past the guards at the little shack, past the receptionist and up to the third floor to see the HR people. While the biggest problem with Spicejet is the people in HR I don't believe that they would talk to a pilot like that. The management pilots on the ground floor would have their heads if they heard that and the person in HR has no way of knowing what kind of connections the pilot has. We all know that talking smack to the wrong person in India can make your life unpleasant.

Look, I think the selection process for F/O's in India in general and SG in particular is horribly flawed. But, lets not blow stories out of proportion. I flew with many F/O's who got hired without knowing anyone. It is hard but it is possible. When I hear people talking about 3000 applying and only a few being succesful I have to ask, HOW MANY PILOTS DO YOU THINK SPICEJET NEEDS? They only have about 30 jets. They only need to hire about 8-9 for every new delivery. The odds are long and many will try, few will win.

Too spicy

I personally know a person who got into spice jet thru jugaad...
U know what ...he just told me hes joining spice jet...
I mean what the hell...are we all fools to sit jobless at home and him getting selected without any interview or written...i know he got into spice in jan 2011 or something way before march recruitment (which were also rigged)..
Its just that we want airlines to give a fair chance to every one...
Let the deserving pilot get the job...

Yes we are. Because we don't do anything about it and if our uncles/chachas or who ever got us a job in the some way with jugaad we would not refuse to take that job and say "I will get a job only in merit even if I have jugaad"

They won't and they don't need to. Except for the Govt airline which has to, but even they choose not to.

A airline which can't honour its cadet's contracts while at the same time taking in absolutely dumb pilots who can't even fly C-152 straight at particular altitude but have TR which they bought from Germany or USA shows how good the HR or Operation department works.....so how can they ever do honest recruitment?

Its only naive and ignorant kids who took up flying as career just after passing 12 class without any insight knowledge of how aviation works in India started moaning about how getting a TR or paying for backdoor will provide them a luxurious life only to be found leading a life as depressed & full of debt's.

This kids can't even wait for the proper recruitment's to come out...all they do is start spreading rumours about how this or that guy got job and force their parents to choke some more money for jobs.
Its absolutely pathetic.

You can not force a airline to take you over others...they got their own preferences which dilutes on how much you can pay or whom you know.
And yes i know many would rant & say lets change it or lets change system when he/she will himself pass throw a hole to get that right seat job in first place while advocating about how corrupt this system has got which needs a change.

Was it after waiting for 2-3 years ?
Was it after all those paid/backdoor seats got exhausted ?

Recently few cadets went to file a suit against SG for not honouring contracts...isnt it?

They have not taken all the cadets. They are now being asked to appear for the 20k scam every time it is unveiled.
Most have gotten through but there are the last few who can't crack through;different management, you see.
Hiring in this airline is not done through exams, interviews, sim checks, but through drinking sessions at the local watering hole with our esteemed EVP and Q deputy chief.
A whole lot of smoke and mirrors. Stay away from this joint. The pay is pathetic, rostering is in shambles and you will be treated like cr@p by everyone at every juncture.
As I have said before, you have been warned. If you choose not to heed, see you online soon.
Good luck.
