@ VICTOR FOXTROT
The coverage of VOR permits satisfactory operation which has minimum elevation angle of 40 degree from ground so if we assume a VOR and its cone the angle which is made is 90deg-40deg=50deg if the a/c was overhead VOR
I wish i could explain u by drawing the whole picture; hope it helps

@mike_sierra:-This is NOT what you call a confirmation..it must include the date, time, and venue for the examination..
You have been shortlisted for the upcoming exam in Sept 2011..In case of a no show please be advised that you will not be called for the test for a period of 3 months. To avoid depriving some other deserving candidate from appearing you are requested to kindly keep your appointment for this test by sending a confirmation email to Capt Upendranath at [email protected] latest by 15th Sept 2011.Once he gets a confirmation from your end, you will be issued the hall ticket by Capt Upendranath with the test date and venue details.
NO offence buddy:-may be my english is not up to the mark as yours or others in this forum...but wat i understood from this mail was they have shortlisted me and now dey need me to send a confirmation letter to capt. Upendranath so (Once he gets a confirmation from my end, i will be issued the hall ticket by Capt Upendranath with the test date and venue details.
and yes i am not saying anybody to stop studying...i have no profit or neither do ane1 who has posted this mail here...all the fellow pilots who have been checking this forum and are givng feedbacks have asked to post the mail if somebody gets it...nobody is fool here if i say dont study human performance would u not study it...so please guyd keep on studying i rilli pray n hope that all guys get the tickets
cheers

Guys leaving behind everything about the mails n all....lets talk about problems..
Q1)at 0900 relative bearing of NDB is 045 and at 0910hrs bearing is 090...if ground speed is 150 kts.. wat is the distance from aircraft to the beacon?
Q2)what is the initial great circle direction from 45N 14'12W to 45N 12'48E?
Q3)Range of NDB at 10kw;(wat is the formula to calculate it...)
a)500nm b)100nm c)1000nm d)50 nm
Q4)assuming the maximum error in vor of +/-5.5degrees,what is the maximum distance apart the beacons can be situated on the centreline of the uk airway in order that an aircraft can guarantee remaining within the airway boundary...
a)54 nm b)109 nm c)66nm d)132 nm
Q5)an aircraft is homing towards VOR which marks the centreline of the airway.the beacon is 100 nm distant. if the pilot had the airway qdm set on the OBS what deflection of the deviation indicator would be given if the aircraft was on the boundary of the airway?(1 dot equals 2 degrees)
a)3 dots b)2 dots c)2.5 dots d)1.5 dots
6)during deceleration following a landing in northerly direction the magnetic compass will indicate:
a)an apparent turn to west
b)a heading fluctuating about about 360
c)no apparent turn
d)an apparent turn to east
7)what is the chart length between 180E and 180W on same latitude?

Ans. 01) Here you cant apply 1:60 Rule because 1:60 rule is valid when bearing change angle is _< 20 degress..in this case the bearing change is 45 degress..therefore, the time of bearing change is equal to the time to go to the station..ground speed is 150kts..time is 10 minutes..(from 0900 to 0910)
simple formula..
D= SxT
D to go to the station= 150x(10/60)
D to go to the station=25NM.
Ans. 02) I think the great circle direction is East..(guys correct me if i am wrong).
Ans. 03) i want to ask you is it over land or over water?
Ans. 06)option c
Ans. 07) In this case..there is nothing like 180E or 180W..it is 180E/W..its anti-meridian..there is no distance travelled..Earth distance is therefore ZERO..if Earth distance is ZERO..Scale factor will be infinity..Either the Chart length cant be found or Chart Length is ZERO because Earth Distance is also ZERO..
S.F.= C.L./E.D.
C.L.= S.F.x E.D.
C.L.= infinity x ZERO
C.L.= ZERO
(guys if i am wrong please correct me)
sorry i dont know the answers for question 4 and 5..

Q 4) ans is B 109nm
Q5) ans is C 2.5 dots bcoz an airway is 5deg from the airway centerline on both the sides and since its on airway boundary it will show 2.5 dots

Ques 4
5.5 = (5*60)/x
Find x
X comes out to b 54.5
But at reaching mid way we change over
To 2nd vor located at destination
So ans is 109( double of 54.5)
Ques 5
Airway is 5nm either side of centre line
Now Frm 1 in 60 rule
X = (5*60)/100
x=3 deg
I.e 1.5 dots

what is 5*60?i am not able to figure out..
guys i am wondering why very few people have got the second email from indigo?why not everyone who got the first email for september 2011 exam?does that mean we all will be called for October attempt?if yes, then people who will get first email for October attempt will be called for next attempt lets say November or whenever they will conduct the exam?
i believe in this case it is not managed properly for indigo..no offense..but this way it will only delay the process..why i am saying this because i am not able to understand the logic behind this..that only few people have got the second email not everyone..what is the logic behind this?
We are not even sure if we will be called for the next attempt..

ndb range formula
Range of NDB at 10kw;(wat is the formula to calculate it...)
a)500nm b)100nm c)1000nm d)50 nm
a)500nm b)100nm c)1000nm d)50 nm
range of ndb over land(nm)=2xsqroot(power in watts)
if we use these formulas the answers are 200nm and 300nm respectively....and none of these are given in the options.........guys please let me know if am going wrong somewhere or if there is a different formula for it...thanks in advance
