Anyone know the recruitment schedule for this year.
seems that KA are recruiting the first batch for 2014.
is it a bit late that they are catching up the schedule such that some tests are being done even on holidays??

CXjunior,

I believe we might have missed the first batch already at the very least, because I was just notified that my final interview will be somewhere in July.

We might even have missed the 2nd one, i am not too sure. But if my final interview is in july, i could expect the course will start in auguest (3rd batch period). I may be wrong.

For those of you taking the 1st interview, make sure you stay calm and articulate well at all times. Pilots cannot panic! remember that!

As in what questions they asked me, I don't even know where to start, the topics are really vast, but definitely find out as much as possible regarding Aviation and KA at a BEGINNERS' level.

I was told that the final interview will be heavily technical based, so dont worry too much about technical stuff you find in ATPL modules for the first interview.

I dont see the point of posting the question they asked me here, because they basically asked on the go as conversation continued, so be careful what you say and dont dig yourself a hole you cannot get out of.

I am taking the ICAO english next wednesday in Cathay City (Yes KA does their ICAO in cathay city)

I will update my progress here and hope will help you guys too

cfdchan, there is no dress requirement for the Aptitude Testing, so you can wear what you want. That being said, it's better to overdress than to under-dress. You are looking for a chance to get into the profession, so dress professionally won't hurt

By the way, are we all being processed for DA19 (assuming that is the next intake)? Is DA19 going to FTA or CTC?

Sp0r3,

Hello, how do you know the current assessment is for DA19?
Do you know the current assessment is for CPL or MPL?

If you know where to see the information regarding the DA19, let me know. Greatly appreciated

DA17 is being trained in Adelaide by FTA. And no news from FTA with regards to welcoming a new DA intake, I am just doing some logical guess that DA18 is being trained elsewhere. Considering CTC has already been approved by HKCAD to do training for KA, they may already have a DA intake right now. So that leaves the next DA intake as DA19.

I know the current assessment is for CPL being I am currently in it (and I've applied to CPL) and because the tests for CPL is different than MPL. But they could be doing some recruiting for both right now, only KA knows for sure.

As for CTC training for KA, I don't see any reason not to considering they have already done the chicken dance to get HKCAD approval and all the time and money have been spent on making it happen. It is almost a year and a half since their announcement, so I don't think they still idling.

All these are just my logical deductive reasoning

Re: Chris

For CPL batch,

the interview process starts with Initial Test -> Aptitude Test -> 1st Interview
if not , its MPL.

Thanks for your advice for 1st interview. esp. not to dig a hole that one cannot gets out from it.

I reckon its very important to find out which flight school will the current batch attend.

chris186,
I haven't received any information regarding my application after my AT. I'm hoping my application hasn't been pulled out from the selection pool...

Just wondering, how come you wish to do the MPL instead of CPL?

sp0r3,

Check your application site, if it says "your unable to make changes to this application ......." Means you are still in the game, but if it says "apply again in 12 months" means your out

I know I checked it every minute before I received the results from them lol. Glad the first interview is done for me for now.

I would pick MPL because it better prepare a pilot into operational ready in its airline. I understand the benefit of CPL, but I don't plan to leave KA so eventually both cpl and MPL will be unfrozen atpl regardless. MPL does whole lot more simulator, which makes more sense to me because I'll be flying airbus, why fly so much smaller aircraft such as in CPL

But whatever they put me in, I'm happy to take it lol

Good luck to you for your AT results.

I am already checking it like its a morning and afternoon ritual. But everything is still pointing towards "being processed", so it is still good for me

I actually think I did not do as well as I thought it would be for my AT. Some I did well in, some I thought I could do better (but didn't). Only time will tell if I'm eligible for the next phase of the selection process. *fingers crossed*

My question was actually same as what logically deduced by Sp0r3 in his post.

From previous threads here, it seems that the last intake in 2013 is like DA18 and many new applicants only started receiving IT/AT/interview in Jan-Feb. As such, I guess KA is still recruiting the 1st badge for this year. So I would really like to know if there is any information about their recruitment schedule, as like what you have mentioned as well that DA19 might be started after your final interview in Jul which is a bit late.

Anyway, congratulations to you being invited to the final interview and wish u all success.

Sp0r3,

How did you do for your 3-in-1 and flying through square test?
What's the score?

These two r pretty much the holy grail of the AT.

My 3 in 1 test, i got 11 hits, 1 miss
But my fly through square I only got a 5/6...

I should've done better in the fly through test as I've done it in the past with a score of 7/8

11 hit 1 miss?
Woah u kidding me?
That's like genius!!

Don't worry man, u got this, if you don't pass the AT, I dunno who would. I passed and my score wasn't as good as yours but still not bad I got 11 hit and 6 miss. Square I got 2-6-9.

Pointers to others doing AT:
Merely flying within the squares aren't good enough, u need to fly as close to the centre of the square as possible. Hitting the square outline is 5/10, so if you hit the centre point you get 10/10. So aim to be in centre and not just flying through squares

I find that staying calm helped me focus on the tasks at hand in the 3-in-1 test. For the shapes and numbers tasks, I've realized there is sufficient time to react instead of fidgeting to press the button. If your instinct tells you to press the button, you should probably take the half second to rethink. Logic over instinct for this test. Also, keeping one hand on the keypad will make your reaction time much less for the shapes task.

As for the fly through square test, my problem lies with over correcting initially as I want to line up the flight path. If I did less changes to the path in the beginning, I would've been in better position for the rest of the squares.
