Visayas aerospace college and technology
ood day, I am about to make a decision to attend Visayas for my PPL CPL IR and ME training, I am an international student but I will like to ask you about the training in the school, is it a good school or not ? I was told it will cost $32,000 did you have to pay any other charges? I just heard from a student on here that they do not have airplanes for training and they cheat students, is this true? is there an alumni of the school on here, that could tell me whats up with the school. so I know what decision to make. Thanks

Visayas Flight School
@LAWWYY
what dont you go to the school to find out. Have a look see. You can pretty much tell about their training program just by visiting. Second. Dont drop all of your money at one time.

recognized and flying clubs to avoid in the philippines.
hey guys,
i trained and flown in the philippines.the flying clubs that are recognized are omni,FAST,AAA and Aviatour, but then again avaitour is kinda slow with thier paperwork.Clark aviation has a high standard+links to the airlines.i had a few fellow instructors who joined as instructors in clark just so they cud get into the airline.
flying clubs u must avoid are.AMA also known as AMA international aviation academy.they have no system or management.they are practically a mess.the aircrafts are old.and the ones that are running dont have proper papers.
the staff involved will make hell..so stay away from this place.
aero international ,strike wing, and any of the small flying clubs there.
if you are not from the philippines i suggest you go there and personally check all the flying clubs in your list.you may spend an extra ticket.but its better than losing thousands of dollars like i did.
as soon as you get your cpl done try and do your instructors with the flyin club as long as they are assuring you a job after the FI course.

i understand your frustration friend. it just so happens that the school you went to probably had an agent recruiting students left and right. its these recruiters that you have to look out for.
advice: get a list of schools, send all of them an email, then make an ocular inspection of the school AND talk to the people there. take special notice of the students and what they think of their schools.
aside from getting all relevant information, you get to meet new friends.
by the way, most schools now have indian students so its easier to talk discreetly and ask for information.

Alpha Aviation
alpha has a good program which goes all the way to airbus training, but...
not to bash on the school, but their basic training needs more training.
how do i know this?
A) i know a few of alpha's airbus instructors and they were wondering how a pilot that has reached that phase in training could consistently cause tailstrikes, collapsing the main landing gears, not landing on the centerline, not being able to quickly react to a one engine failure.
these examples cannot be faulted by the airbus system but by the trainee because these are basic maneuvers taught during single engine training.
B) most of the students from Omni complain about how dangerous alpha pilots fly inside the control zone.
(just to be fair: im sure alpha students probably say the same thing about omni students)

Philippines Flying School
I have been living in the Philippines around 12years. Have visited quite a number of schools and also seen how foreign students suffer in Pilot Training due to problems with the institute / CAAP etc. But there are also good ones out there.
This are few names of institutes you should NOT get admitted.
South Wind Aviation Center
AMA Delta International Aviation
Visayas aerospace college and technology
Ace Pilots Aviation Academy
Strike Wing Aviation
RED WING International Aviation
Some other school still have website but are not operational anymore. And better yet out of any school specially in Plaridel Airport, Bulacan.

hey guys
I am currently in my last year in my degree program. I'm planning on becoming a commercial pilot. Is it smarter to take up my cpl/ppl in other countries instead? I checked Canadian schools and there prices are just like that of the Philippines. Any help would be great, thanks!

@worldcup:
I can tell you based on my experience both in the Phils and in the US (although the latter was pre-9/11). It is a pain to fly gen av in the Phils and most of the students I know take 18-24months to complete a CPL/ME/IR course that usually takes around 6months in the US. If I were in your shoes, I'd check the schools that offer the F1 visa which will allow you to instruct til you get your ATPL in the US (around 24months from start). I cannot comment about Canada but the weather up north is more fickle that's why So.Cal or Florida would be the wisest options IMHO. Good luck in your endeavor!

Hi,
Good day!
Up for this thread!
I just want to know basic things to look for a flying school. I would like to take this career path badly and it's really hard to decide which school to take here in Philippines. I'm looking at Leading Edge as an option. Their office is in Taguig and fly in La Union. I'm planning to take my PPL,CPL and IR with them and have my Airbus rating in AAG. Is airbus rating a great help for future employment in the airlines?
Thanks!
By the way, I read a lot and learn a lot from reading this thread.

accidents
hello,
i often listen people say that companies avoid to hire pilots coming from schools with bad reputation.
alright, let's make a comparison between the following two.
omni, located in philippines and phoenix east, located in usa(florida).
don't know much about omni but phoenix east is a well known with a lot of students around the world and a big fame for many years.
both of them had fatal accidents!
so, why to choose phoenix east and not omni since the moment the training at omni is cheaper. or maybe aviatour which also has c172sp and c182g1000 like phoenix east?
leave your comments.

Age caught up
I wish to learn flying for my own benefit but am already 54 years old. Before you dismiss me, I just had a full correction operation and my vision is now 20/15.
Could anyone tell me if one could still hope to learn flying, at all if ever?
Thanks.
