Math Q

"There are 1.15 Iranian Dinars to 1.5 British Pounds. A British Pound will buy you 2.15 Russian Rubbles."

"If you had 15,000 Dinars, how many Pounds would you have with the remainder in Rubbles?"

Whats the answer ????

You'll have 19,565.22 Pound. Assuming they want Pounds in whole number so you have 19,565 Pound and 0.22 Pound remainder, convert it to Rubbles, you'll have 0.46Rubble in remainder.

Is that the answer you got?

Are you allowed to use pen and paper for those or is it pure head math?

Apparently you are only required to get one of the thirty or so questions correct in the maths test!

Hard as it is to believe I know but I have been told by multiple sources that’s all you require! Not much weight is put on this piece of the puzzle for CX acceptance.

Now, my advice is simply to skip the first question in the test (which is the question above), as its probably the hardest question in the exam bank. If you get stuck on the first question for to long (thinking that the rest are going to be like that, which there not) you will waist to much time. Just skip the first question and move on, I did and answered 22 out of the 30 (or so) comfortably.

The correct answer would be .47 Rubble for the remainder if using two decimals

Any smart way of attacking this problem? If using paper only you have to be carefull how you deal with the problem especially if you have to find a remainder.

If you just go 1.5:1.15 and calculate that before you proceed with multiplying by 15000, you would need quite a bit of decimals before getting the correct remainder. Instead use (15000*1.5)/1.15 which makes sure the remainder is going to be close enough. Keeping the remainder as a fraction before proceeding will make sure you get the correct number down to whatever decimal you like ie. 25:115 = 5:23 - this you then have to multiply by 2.15 (which transferred to fraction is 43:20) so (5:23)*(43:20) = (215:460)= (43:92) = 0.47

Or you could keep everything in fractions if the numbers are easily transferred like in the example:
1.15 Iranian Dinars = 23:20
1.5 British Pounds = 3:2
2.15 Russian Rubbles = 43:20
Then (3:2) : (23:20) = (60:46)=(30:23)
Then 15000*30:23 = 19565 with a remainder of 5:23
Then (5:23)*(43:20) = (215:460)= (43:92) = 0.47

The math test should be the same for cadet as well as direct entry applicants. Not sure if one correct answer is all you need tho.

"If you had 15,000 Dinars, how many Pounds would you have with the remainder in Rubbles?"

Easy, the way that I read it! If you had 15,000 Dinars, then you would have...well...exactly that (15,000 Dinars)! You wouldn't have any British Pounds because they didn't actually say that you had any. Everybody makes things much more difficult than they need to be.

I once had a checker ask me if I knew the crosswind limits. I answered his question in one word..."yes!", and then waited for the next question. When he finished laughing, he rephrased his previous question. "What are the crosswind limitations?"

???

...does the per Diem is paid in Dinars , Pounds or Rubbles?
This is also "very important" to know in order to get a job. Don't forget that to answer such a Q will definitely prove you will be a good and professional pilot in the future ... No wonder pilots are hard to find now a days.
When I told my dad I wanted to be a pilot the first thing he asked me was "Son, why do you want to stop studying?"
After 28 years of commercial flying the only thing I know is that I don't know anything!!!

PS Pogie... You ARE fun

1.15 D= 1.5 pounds

1D = 1.5/1.15 pounds

1500 D = 1500 (1.5/1/1.15) pounds = 1956.521739 pounds

1 pound = 2.15 R
.521739 pound = .521739 * 2.15 R= 1.12 R

There are 1.15 Iranian Dinars to 1.5 British Pounds. A British Pound will buy you 2.15 Russian Rubbles
