Hey Megatop, I believe if your height is above the RSAF requirement, you should be alright with the SIA requirement of 1.65m. But I think I've seen pilots in SIA whom are shorter than 1.65m.

Hi Fizmy, I like to check how long did they contact u 2 years ago after your medical that you are underage?

I had my medical about 2 months ago and till now no reply yet. 2 of the guys who went with me got their confirmation email 3 weeks ago.

I am 25 but not yet 25 1/2 years old though.

@nerAz: well, i was contacted probably 2-3 months after my medical. got a phonecall from xiangbin (no longer works with SIA) and was informed that i cleared my medical. he asked when do I turn 26. and since at that point in time i was only 24, i was asked to contact them again by email when i'm a month shy of 25 1/2. yup.. hope this helps.

now due to many cadets still 'jammed' at different phases in training, PROBABLY SIA is being stringent on age. For one, i just got my confirmation email. And my OBS date is 2 weeks shy of my 26th birthday. If this is anything to go by, well.. sure looks like they really want to allow only those turning 26 a priority. Of course, this is just a mere speculation. probably you might want to contact those 2 who went for medical with you, their age?

Hey fizmy, thanks for your reply. yeah 2 of the guys who went medical with me got their confirmation email and will be in the Oct batch.

Both of them are either reaching 26 or more than 25 1/2 years old. Guess that's the major reason. But well called CAAS today and was informed that i cleared medical. So now it's the waiting game i guess.

Good luck and enjoy ur OBS!!

Quite a few oldies too

First off, congrats to those who made it!

"allow only those turning 26 a priority. Of course, this is just a mere speculation"

Yes , that is definitely speculation and totally untrue
The only reason why there are not so many older applicants is simply
because there are not as many of them applying as compared to the other age bands.

Its not easy to throw down a career and leave your wife and kids for months to for a chance at the "dream"

Any old folks out there reading this forum and thinking of applying or
that have already applied.
please dont be discouraged : ) , it is simply not true.
I know of quite a number of age 30+ in SFC as we speak.

Once again congrats to the people who made it.
And if your in the OCT batch, pray you dont go to lumut lol.

hey JDAS, I suppose NerAz and fizmy are referring to applicants below 26 and waiting for SIA to call them only when they are nearer to 26. Definitely no offense intended for anyone older and who wish to apply. all the best to any applicant!

anyway NerAz, have u applied to RSAF for pilot position before?

during interview

hi all,

question to all who attended the interviews:

if you were asked a qns that you feel that you know the ans, but is unable to confirm it, would you say out the answer or claim you do not know and will find out?

for example: where is singapore situated? north or south of the equator? if you think its north but cant confirm? wat will you say?

Thanks

@Fizmy: looks like we are gonna be coursemates! yup, got my speedpost yesterday! Course 158 if I'm not wrong.

@NerAz: any news for u yet? Who are ur 2 frens who have gotten conformation already?

Thought of contacting the guys whom are confirmed for the Oct batch to see if they are interested in meeting up prior to the course. U know jus to get to know each other since we are gonna be a virtual "family" for the immediate future!

Maybe those interested can converse via PM and exchange contacts?

So far it's:
1. Nineh (myself)
2. Fizmy
3. ??
4. ??

@Marcuslee: hmm I kinda get what u mean.. This is my take. I think the most important point to note is to be honest! Honest! And yea, honest! Do not try to "smoke" them under any circumstances. It will back fire.

I also think they are more interested In Your thought process and character than just the right or wrong answer..

For instance, if u know the answer but not sure, say just that. But also validate ur answer.

For example, if the question was: "which a/c type does SQ fly to NZ?".

Let's say u think the ans is the B777, but ur not sure cos there's a 10% chance u think it could be the A320... I would answer as:

"I am honestly not sure sir. But if u would allow me to make an educated guess, I believe the ans is the B777 as I've positively eliminated the A380, A340 and B747. And the B777 is the largest fleet of the remaining a/c and thus has the highest possibility of flying to NZ..."

Somewhere along those lines.. It's basically to show that although u do not know the ans, u are able to infer and rationalize ur facts to present a possible ans..

Well at least that's my 2 cents worth.,

Cheers

Hi Guys!

I have a query and was wondering if there's anyone who can provide an insight to me. I have run this thread through twice but was unable to find what i was looking for.

I have made an application via the online system and I am currently based in Sydney. I am a 26 year old Singaporean male. As I have friends who received the reply within 2-3days of application, does anyone know if my country of residence led the system to exclude my application? It is close to 2 weeks for me. As i have indicated Sydney instead of Singapore. A Criteria on the website indicate that "you should only apply if you are residing in Singapore".

I noted that one of the guys in the forum did mention about applying from States but it seems there was no follow up on that as well.

Appreciated mates!

Happy landing!

Cheers

class 1 medical

hi guys, i just did my medical 3 wks ago and was told by the medical board that i've cleared the medical. However, 2 days ago, I was asked to submit an additional blood pressure report to them. Anyone experienced the same thing? I am a bit worried about this.

Angel Medical

Hi noonboy

I had to do the same thing as well.. Initially asked me for 3 blood pressure reading in 1 hour.. I send in report.. next day called me to do a 24 H blood pressure monitoring.. That was rather expensive and inconvenient. I send in the report last week and still waiting.. Were u asked to redo any test for ur class 1 medical..

regards

Hi all,

Anybody know how will SIA decide whether a cadet will go to SIA, Cargo, Silkair or Tiger? And when would the cadet know of the assignment? Thank you.

Noonboy,

Do not worry. If it is blood pressure issue, i think taking more healthy food like banana and garlic will help.

Anoop,

24hr blood pressure test sound expensive.

Angel Hi dx69lhh

dx69lhh,,

24 H blood pressure monitoring is expensive. The clinics, GP , Polyclinic all dont have that. You must go to the big hospitals like Alexandra or NUH ect.. Its difficult to get an appointment also..

Angel Hi Guys

@zpliu- I got mine done abt a week back. My blood pressure was normal all the way. The doc said he wont do it unless there is something wrong. So I had to show him the email from SIA to get it done. I send in the report abt abt 2 weeks ago still waiting for them to get back... Did u get it done.. ??

@noonboy- U need to send them all the 3 reading not the average. Normal is 120/80 .. My doc said upto 130/85 is quite normal.. My readings were normal and I was still asked to do the 24H pressure monitoring test..

Regards
