Their indicated airspeed to reach those negative G values were in excess of 400 knots. Not possible to get anywhere near those numbers at 210 to 230 knots. The first generation jets were also...

The aircraft would not have survived a -4G push. -1G is the normal airliner design goal for no damage and -1.5 for failure. In addition it’s doubtful to impossible that the airfoil on the 767 would...

Its certainly possible and I have had that happen. The change in aircraft pitch is barely noticeable while handflying at 230 knots. Certainly nothing that would cause issues.

Transport aircraft like the 767 have a reasonably light wing loading relative to fighters. I suspect that at the 230 knots assigned they could generate 3.75G’s. Since there is no where to read G...

At a given AOA the lift the wing can produce is significantly reduced with the speedbrakes out which would unload the wing. If you pulled to a higher AOA to maintain the same G force it may be...

The Airbus will limit you to two G’s in the situation you describe. The airframe is required to take nearly double that load at max certified weight. 2.5 G’s is the requirement with no damage and...

No one does that on the 767. If you want to go down fast you simple select flight change and the throttles go to idle. If you want to help you can pull them to idle however the auto throttle system...

He actually did not have enough airspeed to generate a high G condition. He was however at 35 degrees AOA at impact.

I don’t think it would free float. It’s not a hinged device. Having said that if the aircraft was loaded with a forward CG and the stabilizer system suffered a catastrophic failure it would have...

Not quite sure what your saying. 16,000 was typical for a arrival with a alternate that was close and suitable. If convective activity in TX was widespread I would personally want a bit more.

With the weather in the area you would expect that were arriving with at least 16,000 lbs of fuel. That would put 8000 in each wing with the center empty. That’s only about 1200 gallons a side. Fuel...
