Either way, it was meant to stop on the runway before the end, or else got airborne, and return for landing, albeit with a failed engine.

This must have looked like a circus during it's happening....

TCAS helps to stop you flying into one another, whilst GPWS or EGPWS assists in preventing a pilot from flying into terrain.

Frankly, TCAS would not really prevent CFIT.
