Farewell ......

Smashing little airport it was. Smashing people. Fraid the regional airport and airline business is just not worth anyone's risk now. I'll be paying off my debts until I die!

Bon chance everyone

Ivory tower?

Ivory Tower. LOL! That will be my porn name when I finally lose interest in the aviation game.

The great thing about Coventry is that there is no need to speculate about the likelihood of...

Reality check

Not been on for long to talk about CVT which I hold dear to my heart:

FACT - regional airport businesses in crisis.
FACT - it's only bucket & spade and non-EU flying that makes any money and...

Hello EGHQ

You raise some interesting points, my friend. Speaking from my vantage point, as an experienced operator at regional airports, I would say Plymouth's best future as an airfield is to become totally...

A one way trip back to max fares

The apparent death of regional airports (and operators) marks a return to the good-old-bad-old days. No more airline bartering with the 'big' airport operator - it'll be 'our way or no way'. Then,...

Real support

This has been a bumpy ride for all of us that have kept the faith - of all the bidders who came forward the airport has ended up in the best place. I think Patriot and Sir P have impeccable...

Reality check

Maybe I've been the only one saying, for about 4 years, this ain't ever gonna work. In the ole days everyone was optimistic about the difference a passenger terminal would make while I was observing...

Late accounts

By the way don't get too excited by late filing - it is incredibly common. One bizarre quirk of recent times is that, whilst the Government has been bending over backwards to give businesses a...

Skypartners Back at Coventry!

Hi Guys n Girls

Just popped in to tell everyone at CVT that Skypartners is opening up a new cafe bar at Coventry Airport! So if you've been missing our particular brand of homely hospitality, you...

Missing the point?

Glad that the point I am making is not being totally lost here.

IF the airport survives without PAX flights it must mean an increase in noise and inconvenience for local residents - so I would...

No, I don't need to rip up Yellow Pages to vent my aggression but thanks for the suggestion. I care not a tinkers cuss whether you think me professional or not and, as you can see, I am not afraid to...

Noise in Bubbenhall

I say, screw em! Make as much noise as possible 'cos they had the opportunity of a quiet life but chose another path.

I wonder if I can retrofit a Merlin to ma ole jalopy?

Remember the CI

Hi all

Do remember that you can fly special VFR wihin the CI zone so you can always use that as a staging post for the trip if needs be.

Today we served our last departing pax at Coventry. To everyone who has been part of the last 4 and a half years, especially my staff who I can not praise highly enough, I say a heartfelt thank you.

Runway closures

The 'complete lack of business acumen' is, probably, a harsh assessment - the airport is a big, leaky bucket and 24 hour Ops prior to Thomsonfly was a product of Air Atlantique's need. The knock-on...

Missed the good news?

I don't believe that any decision made out of political cowardice with a good measure of corruption thrown in will ever be good for aviation regardless of which axe you happen to be grinding.

A labour of love

It's been said before but let me say it again ...

The only reason, ONLY reason, why there is mandatory handling at Newquay is because it is an RAF aerodrome. When the RAF go so will the mandatory handling, I am reliably informed. Mandatory handling...

Handling

Sympathise about high cost of landing - one of my long held beefs - however at Newquay or, to be accurate, St Mawgan, it is unavoidable 'cos it is a military base and you can't allow any old Tom,...

I don't doubt that delays are a pain - but as I have said b4 on here it is a widespread problem just about everywhere right now - and the BLK pax I speak to, whilst inconvenienced, are practical and...

My opinion as a CVT contractor

Present pax numbers between 600 and 700k so still potential to increase flights by almost a third b4 reaching capacity.
Existing buildings easy to reconfigure without need for further consent....

No doubting the logic

The great thing about airport planning disputes is the ease with which the argument can be justified by all parties. It is one of the few times where everyone is genuinely right in their assertions....
