You are right to consider the legal protection that BALPA can offer..They are also not obliged to take your case to court,as you suspect,the requirements would be that they have a reasonable chance...

have to agree with the `zero chance`posts,due to security.It`s a locked door policy for airlines since sept 11,so no flight deck visits during flight and very tight guidelines on use of the jumpseat.
