Is the fuel switch an electrical switch or a mechanical switch? Makes no sense it looks like a mechanical switch but positioned where you would an electrical switch. I suspect its a marketing switch!

I wasn't taught that... but used to do it as a low hour pilot. I found later on when I started instructing it prevents you from manipulating the throttle... mainly in tail rotor failures and governor...

Experience would be difficult to get ground running... e.g. on some 44's when you push the carby heat down...
