I am sure that the pilots knew what they were doing. It is better to apply aggressive breaking early then back it off than the other way and realise too late that you are running out of runway! Same...

If the tow truck was unsuccessful I doubt he could have powered out. Powering out runs the risk of damaging the landing gear structure which would not be visible to the naked eye and what could...

LAHSO

Why does an Airline have to get permission to accept a LAHSO clearance? What is so special about the actual manoeuvre?

Seat belt signs OFF during taxi.

I see no problem with this even if the A/C is taxiing very slowly. I once allowed passengers to leave their seats to use the toilets during a very very long taxi although I left the seat belt signs...

How to contact Caribbean Airlines

If you Google "Caribbean Airlines contact us' and then click on "Customer relations", you will see a claim form for your lost baggage. Their fax number is listed as 1-868-669-0336. Good luck.

APU Vs IDG fuel burn.

The APU must burn more fuel than what could be saved from a disconnected IDG. The size of the APU turbine I am sure would consume more fuel than what could be saved from a disconnected IDG.

All lift also produces drag.

Due to the fact that the autoslat will only work if you have the slats extended I suspect that he got into the habit of extending the slats once he was below 250 KTS as an extra safety net....

Noise abatement A320

Seeing that you clearly state that the question does not apply to bad weather, wind shear or turbulence I would (if your company allows it) reduce power at 1000 ft AGL. 400 ft may be a bit on the low...

Is it law?

I understand that 250 kts below 10,000 ft is a law and ATC cannot approve it except in an emergency so if there is an incident you are held accountable if you were exceeding 250 below 10,000. When...

As far as I know all indicated fuel on the gauge is useable. If it says 2000 kgs, then you can plan on being able to consume another 2000 kgs. However your company will have SOPs that say you should...

Fuel tankering.

I figure it should be MLW plus trip fuel to go and come. You would still have to check that you are not exceeding other limits like the ZFW and MTOW.

Slow Vs fast rotation rates.

I agree with the 3 degree rotation rate. If you are not going to do 3 degrees per second then slower is better than faster. I have often shown my Co-pilots how close some A/C tails come to touching...

Landing North, landing South.

To be unambiguous it should say Landing TO the North or TO the South. North or South refers to the direction of landing. In other words "landing North" means landing on R/W 34 or 35 or 36 or 01 or...
