It depend, if you are 23 years old yes a type rating on B737 or A320 is the correct option.
Today with actual crisis will not open the door in airlines to 40 years old guys with 500 flying hours...

They Hire for summer, they made the season with you, in some flights they have the return on the investment, if they keep you on the company...
