I went to OBA to do my PPL in 08. I thought it was fantastic - I had a great JAA instructor and clear weather for 3 weeks.

It did exactly what it said on the tin. I'd recommend it thoroughly!

Down south near me the cost of the PPL is about £7.5k without landing fees, headset, fuel surcharges etc.
Even if you have to buy flights out to Florida, a headset, charts etc etc, it still works...
