Flying commercially whilst taking statins

Hello,

I was interested to find out what the rules were about flying commercially whilst on statin cholesterol lowering drugs?
I know that cholesterol levels are cautionary and do not necessitate a fail of the medical but what does the CAA think about it?

Cheers
Matt

Whilst not a full list of medication page 12 http://www.jaa.nl/licensing/manual_2...%20MedaFly.pdf

Of the statins: Pravastatin(e) seems to be one of choice. But the list isn't exhaustive and also it will depend on whether there are other health issues along with high cholesterol.

Previous answers suggest it 'aint a problem, (although of course you have to inform your ame.)

Probably a good job, 'cos soon we'll all be on these wonder drugs.

Recently been informed by the CAA that it's not considered to be a problem. They just want you to commence the medication on a day off, for a two to three day period, and if no obvious side effects, then continue flying and inform your AME.
