Just a observation, i assume the gear on the floats are meant to be retracted for landing on water? Could having these extended cause it to flip on landing?

i would say that the jetstar engineers would have alot on there plate with the 787 on its way at the start of 09 if i got the date right. I wonder if they will have to bid for the 787 work or not...
