I know it varies based on single, married, kids etc and flown...

I would assume to increase the airflow since engines are at idle in case you would be carrying live animals or people moving about in the main deck

My operator does not have that said procedure...

notto sure if you can, but you can count your hours (JAA) towards your FAA, but then again, FAA dont have a minium, just take the checkride, its free with FAA, have to wait about 5 weeks...
