Used Ryanair for the first time recently; punctuality, service etc little different from the others. Considering the very cheap price paid was very satisfied, however was surprised when I asked for a paracetemol to be told 'sorry sir we are a low cost airline' !. .I'd use them again as a customer, but cannot imagine any circumstances that would make me work for them with their current attitude to staff.. .If my experience is representative of the gereral public, then I suppose they will prosper as Mr Punter is not interested in staff welfare.. .Whether at Ryanair or anywhere else, if we are prepared to put up with the crap, management will keep on dishing it out.. .As they say in Dublin, you're cleared to land 'Good Luck'.

Ellion. .. .Psychometric testing. Isn't that were they ask you if you would ever go to see a film about an otter? Please abridge us of what the hell that has to do with flying an aircraft. I take it that the Nigels who declare whether they would see such a film are better pilots than the FR guys who, for all we know, are psychotic otter haters who enjoy nothing more than a good otter hunt at a weekend. But we don't know that 'cos they ain't been psycho tested. REALLY.

Speaking of 'remote' destinations, isn't Frankfurt-'Hahn' the old USAF F-16 base? If so must be about 60 miles away, not to mention a bit of a dump! After all it's not really an airport, more of an airbase . .Incidentally, I flew Ryanair one day, but was so annoyed with the way (all three) of us were treated that i certainly won't be doing it again. And I'm ashamed to say i couldn't be arsed complaining as i could see (correctly) that it would make no difference. I just vowed never to fly with them again. Do you think there are many like me who just vote with their feet, or just a few tens of thousands?

God loves a flyer. I take it you work for Ryanair then? As for that being an outright lie well thats what they are offering CC based at Chareloi.BTW im not a bird . .. .This is a topic about Ryanair complaints , if you don't like what you read then go look at something else!!. .. .We are all entitled to our opinions and the majority seems to think the same as me. Doesn't surprise me that they get so many complaints if they have people like you working for them.. .I rest my case . . . . [ 13 March 2002, 13:14: Message edited by: Belgian Beauty ]

Brain Fade,. .. .Ryanair is already involved in litigation with German carrier Lufthansa over its base at Hahn airport, about 100 kilometres from Frankfurt, Germany. . .. .Last month, a court ruled that Ryanair can advertise its new base as 'Frankfurt-Hahn' but another court in Cologne issued a preliminary injunction on Ryanair to stop it comparing fares from Hahn with Lufthansa's fares from Frankfurt airport.

I see only the same tired voices trying to defend Ryanair.. .. .Accept the facts. They are a nasty, tawdry, cheap and down right offensive outfit to those in the industry.. .. .The t and c's there now are a joke. I know there may be a surplus of pilot's at the minute...but there won't always be...so I hope MOL gets his come uppance. And he will. What a load of sad self hyped nonsense they are.. .. .I hate ego's like that pikey has got. Send him back to the farm.. .. .Low fares airline? No, more like a low morals airline.. . . . [ 13 March 2002, 18:57: Message edited by: tailscrape ]

Yawn...... .. .The usual anti-Ryanair rabble venting their spleen.... .. .Change the record guys, your fragile egos must realise that MOL or anyone at FR couldn't give a damn about your petty liitle opinions, go back to your MS flight simulators and keep dreaming.

Perhaps it is the usual "rabble", 1W22.. .. .However, you need to ask yourself whether everyone who is anti-FR here are merely FlightSim pilots. Probably not.. .. .Furthermore, it is necessary to wonder why they are anti-FR. Could all of them be motivated only by having applied and been turned down? In which case you might expect them to vent their spleens at a lot more airlines as well. Or all BA pilots who are psychologically predisposed to despise all low-cost carriers? Unlikely, since Go, easyJet and Buzz don't come in for anything like the same level of stick.. .. .Or, perhaps, just perhaps, it is because tey are professionals who recognise an airline that values them and their colleagues, their qualifications and experience, who value loyalty, and despise anyone who is so obviously out for nothing more than a quick buck, who would screw the last penny out of his own grandmother (if he even had a mother) and who clearly despises his own staff, colleagues and paying public.

I have flown Ryanair many times and have no complaints...so far. I think the majority of complaints arise out of one incidence in Paris...there was a big uproar in the media here. . .. .I don't like the chairmans attitude; when times ain't so good it will get him,but for now,as a passanger...I don't see anyone has any complaint at the fares they charge..if you expect anything more than a seat your are an dreaming. Also, they have no shortage of staff willing to work for them.. .. .I must finish by saying that of all the low cost airlines I like and respect O most of all.

I recently flew FR to Hahn (can't quite bring myself to call it Frankfurt!) return for £120. Luckily, my destination was Saarbrucken and not Frankfurt, and I left plenty of time as I had no confidednce in FR's optomistic turn around times - rightly as it transpired. 1:30 delay outbound, 0:45 inbound. But I got what I expected - a low cost and low services trip, but was happy.. .. .However, I wouldn't wrk for MOL. He obviously hates pilots but has to accept they are a fairly essential part of running an airline. The way he has taken advantage of hungry pilots with his post 9/11 contracts is disgraceful.

Can anyone give an accurate answer to how much a new starter with low hours gets paid with Ryanair? There have been many conflicting ideas floating around!!

MC . .it is noy just because of the Paris incident, I know of quite a few incidents that would cause people to be unhappy , just one example is the flight out of Treviso that was cancelled without notice that left 150+ people stranded, they were told that the best thing for them to do was to take the train back to Charleroi.. .How's that for customer care ?

I've just recently flown Ryanair for the first time, to Dublin and back, and have to say that both flights were enjoyable, with what I thought was plenty of leg room. They supplied a good reasonably priced service and got me there and back with only a ten minute delay going out. The cabin crew(f) were the best looking I've seen for a long time ! and were very friendly. Stop knocking Ryanair they do a good job for what you pay.

I'm with Brain Fade on this one, having flown many times with Ryanair, I've never yet had a flight depart on schedule. The final straw came several weeks ago, when our flight from SNN to STN was cancelled and we were dumped at SNN with our 4 month old baby and no assistance offered, except the advice "Come back tomorrow, read the small print on our booking conditions, and you'll see we're not obliged to do anything for you.". .I disagree with the "You get what you pay for" lobby...Ryanair were prepared to sell us the seats for GBP120 each (plus of course GBP10 for the infant) so in return I expect them to provide the bare minimum of at least trying to get us to our destination the same day.. .The reason that relatively few complaints are formally registered is that most people are now aware that there is no Customer Service department at FR, so why waste time writing a letter that nobody will take any notice of.. .I prefer to vote with my feet, and despite the normally charming crew, will not fly Ryanair again.

Thumbs up

as long as people are lured in by the cheap fares FR is ok , it is going to take a long time before everyone has had a bad experience flying with them so for those of you who don't like FR stop moaning and fly someone else ; in time we will all realise FR is a bad deal and we'll start flying with someone else, i'll just start doing my job and if i want to go somewhere i'll drive , no more moaning about airlines

I agree that Ryan Air, easyJet, Buzz etc are toatally crap. I demand that everyone goes back to paying BA full fares to all European destinations. If we don't do this the BA chief execs will not be able to retire on massive pensions. Vote with your wallets now. !!!!!!!

Cool

It's all about the money then, innit?. .. .People are prepared to get into sardine class, in some rather suspect charter outfits, for long hours-just because it's the cheapest option.. .Safety, service, and even their own health are quite low on the priority list. Cheap is where it's at. . .. .As long as FR is cheap, it will get business, no matter if the service is crap or brilliant. Sad but true. . .It is only when somebody else's money is being used does service, efficiency, and safety become important. Otherwise, price rules.
