As a pilot for a UK independant, I have taken a keen interest in this issue and have regularly been speaking to my colleagues at BA. Their resolve appears to be unshakeable and will not waiver in the coming weeks whilst the wait for the High Court ruling elapses.

I was told the AA pilots on a stop over were given a standing ovation in the hotel yesterday and I have seen images of the support shown at US airports.

I would like to add my admiration to those who have posted before for the solidarity shown by The American Airlines pilots. The Trojan Horse may be firmly ensconsed in your operation now, but to come out and support the BA pilots in this fashion demonstrates commendable qualities.

Thankyou so much from a non BA pilot.

Regards

Just 3 days ago, CAL pilots did informational picketing in Manhattan- at Wall Street.

APA pilots coordinated cooperation/participation there too
I was at the Wall St. rally and was heartened to see pilots from other airlines including AA,UAL and DL all in all there were close to 500 of us there. We at CAL Newark were set to picket with BA pilots at EWR on Sat 15th but because of the timing of the two event being so close, it was not possible. However some of our guys did get to JFK to picket with the BA pilots. It's time for pilots worldwide to band together, step up to the plate and preserve whats left of this profession, before the fat cats eat us up for lunch !!

Well said, FL Change...

I was unable to attend the rally, unfortunately; I have many friends flying at BA and I feel deeply for them. What grates me the most about all of this is: we, the cockpit crews of the world's airlines, are generally stable, fairly pro-company sorts of chaps and chapesses...you've got to really, really be d*cking-up the human resources and leadership qualities parts of management to get so many loyal employees so firmly offside. You also have to have the hide of an elephant to continue with such arrogance as displayed by Mr. Walsh. He now knows his career and reputation are fimly on the line - he's painted himself into a corner more completely than anyone else in recent memory (and not without several months' due warning, I might add), and now has to fight like a cornered cat to save himself.

A more reckless piece of provocative management I cannot remember...and now he places the High Court Judges in the hot seat...I bet they love him...

Togetherness

As a not pilot, but Aviation Professional never the less, and an EX BEA/BA chap, I commend the action by APA/ALPA along with the CO/DL/US/AC folks.

Now OS impinges on AF/KL territory, get those folks onboard as well. Then go for LH/QF etc.

The time has come for all Operational personnel, both flying and non-flying to start to hit back at the stumble-bum attitudes of managements, and bring our profession back to the status it once held.

Good luck folks.

Arthur's Little Helper

PS. I was once a Management scale union rep in BEA/BA in the 70s, so I have an insight into the management attitudes at Imperial Airways! No I'm not a socialist, but a Tory who doesn't like to be 'dick danced' around by numpties!

Boys, thanks alot for your support. Was good to see you guys attending our rally and walk alongside fellow pilots that actually understand what is going on in our industry.
Anyone who thinks that they stand to gain, think again! It's only the fat cats that will line their pockets once again if they can get away with it.

Only thorough communication amongst all Unions of All Majors and 'Low-Cost' spin offs will help to protect this profession to remain a profession!!

And indeed, WE WILL NOT WAIVER

I'm sorry to see sick squid go. I agree with his comments entirely. PPRuNe needs to lose the trolls, or lose its entire character and value..

A huge thank-you to the AA pilots for their support - it was great to see you at the march.

I have to confess to feeling quite humbled by the support of our American 'brothers'. Absolutely outstanding support. You have my deepest thanks, and I look forward to meeting many of you, and buying you a beer!

(How about Long Beach on Wednesday??)

This could be the start of something big!

As an AA pilot ,it was an honor to be there in SFO with you. One of your crews was there on a layover and came out to meet us. UAL had the majority of people there and NWA was there as well.

We wish you all the best.

I have many disagreements with some of our American cousins on JB over the conduct of your President over a huge raft of issues.

I would like to say an enormous thank you to your pilots over their support for the BA guys. Their case is just, deserving and warranted.

I echo the calls for universal solidarity of protecting our profession. Pilots are worth their salt when the chips are down and they have to make decisions that impact on others lives, whilst risking their ability to support their families.

If WW wants to further denigrate our profession and he loses then he will bail out with millions and won't give a flying f**k. If BALPA lose this, then the union will be broken and we can all pack our bags and do this job as a hobby and not give a s**t.

Your choice guys and girls. BA are the benchmark in the UK for T & Cs. Support them or regret it later down the line and it will be soon.

As a BA pilot I would like to add my sincere thanks to our AA colleagues who gave their support both at the rally and in the US.

Support for BALPA has come from associations around the world, and this will not be forgotten.

Maybe this will be the watershed that sees the back of pathetic bullying airline management and an appreciation of the worth of professional pilots to their employers. Broughton and his puppet have bitten off more than they can chew this time.

I'm happy to see the show of support. I've long said that we need to work together for the common good. My only regret is that this type of show of support has taken too long. Better late than never though!

My support to all BA pilots on the open skies negotiations

Hello everyone and specially to all BA pilots. From Spain and I suppose great part of the world we are following the negotiations of you guys on the matter. I just want to express my greatest support for you, and hope an agreement can be reached that defends your interests.

It is not just for the wellbeing of Balpa, but for all the unions in the world to see Balpa succeed. This tug of war is and will be seen more and more offen everyday in our airlines. It is of our interest to not let any of this materialize and to see our fellow british colleagues securing their future.

As McAuslan said; "If BA was to succeed in its plan, this would have enormous consecuences for the whole of unions around the world", as more and more airlines would feel comfortable in doing similar or worst things.

Goodluck!

Talking

Just to ensure we don't leave anyone out, supporting us on Saturday were ALPA, the APA (forAA), and ACPA of Canada.

To all those who stand at our side, heartfelt gratitude and respect.

This new trend should spread across the industry, starting with the EU LoCos before it's too late.
What about SWA guys setting the pace for their FR counterparts for instance?

Well done BA/AA.

Gentlemen, and Ladies, of BA/AA,

I may not be a professional pilot, yet, and am unlikely to achieve the pinnacle of excellence that you have, but the comments and observations from Sick Squid and others, who are concerned about the quality and professionalism of the profession and vocation of pilot, combined with the unity shown by so many in the face of yet another threat from those who fail to understand how, or why this industry functions, gives me great heart. I take my hat off to those who were prepared to stand up and be counted.

I just hope that those in my, current, part of the industry demonstrate similar unity and resolve when their terms and conditions are so threatened, not that I am holding my breath on that score.

United we all stand, but divided we most definitely shall fall.

Balpa, Alpa, Apa

LHRSIB is a f/a for American Eagle, and a new hire at that! American Airlines support of BALPA was outstanding. Me thinks that perhaps LHRSIB is planning on being in the first flight attendant class for the bad plan of BA to start Open Skies. This certainly could explain the need to support Open Skies and poo-poo the support of the pilots at BA!

And yet another event that serves to deepen my opinion that commercial airtravel is an oxymoron. When will people realize that airtravel is too expensive, too risky and too important to be executed by the underpaid, overworked and unhappy.
