FCA Hydraulic Problem at MAN 03 Mar 06
Anybody know anything of an incident at MAN today which resulted in a FUE bound flight returning to land?

Loss of one hydrulic system is hardly an emergency, the return is just a wise thing to do
About the only thing thats gonna work as advertised are the normal brakes.

I saw a First Choice 757 landing with gear doors down (at least nose gear) from 3 miles from the threshold around 3-4pm. Was this it?
Also saw a US Airways 767 in new colours early afternoon. Was this an A330 replacement, charter or a diversion? It sure was running later than usual.

It did the normal NOKIN SID and on handoff to 128.050 the Capt/FO advised the controller that they had lost their left hand Hydraulics during the climb out, they climbed to around FL170 and decided to return back to Manchester. They seemed to handle it superbly.
It still hasn't left for Fuerteventura. Looks like they are trying to fix it.
That would have been it.

The FCA B757 was going to do an ILS for 24r/visual sidestep for 24L. Unfortunately when he was approx 3 miles from touchdown, a snowsquall batted through the approach so he elected to land 24R..rolled to the end, and vacated. Due to "reduced" fire cover for 24L [a lot of f/vs were at the incident] we had 4 departures from 24R. Normal service was resumed pdq.
Full marks to the aircrew..duff a/c, duff wx change of r/w..... guess what the sim checks are gonna be

Click below for a picture of the new paint scheme. The new name of the merged carriers is U S AIRWAYS. The pictured aircraft, N663AW is a repainted America West in the new colors. USair aircraft are being repainted in the new U S AIRWAYS paint scheme.
