Gordy can you please subscribe me some Chill Pills after I respond to this crap.

Anyway back to the thread, this just seems to confirm yet again that having lots of money can buy you a helicopter. What it cannot buy you is the skill to fly it.
In fact I was CORRECT. "Police 51" WAS flying, as ATC have confirmed to me, so maybe you were too busy emptying your toilet chemicals from your camper van to see the thing take off.

KP is far from NOT having skills to fly a helicopter. Mr Punler is actually the complete opposite. Completely competent pilot and a great businessman. So you are wrong AGAIN.

Please don't speculate on the matter of crash until you learn fact, and that a world exists away from Glasgow City Heliport and your camper van (how do you get internet in that bloody thing???). You do not know any of the circumstances, as proven by the fact you missed the copper chopper being away. If he had an engine failure he has done a terrific job getting out safely.

Now please take your speculative spotter nonsense back to your camper van and be a gypsy in the middle of the sea where there is no internet connection.

Oh dear Gordy, Gussett man might need 2 of your pills when he reads this.

Gussett Man - 0
Jivusajob - 1

I don't know who you talked to in ATC Gussett Man but you are WRONG about Police 51

In fact I was CORRECT. "Police 51" WAS flying, as ATC have confirmed to me, so maybe you were too busy emptying your toilet chemicals from your camper van to see the thing take off
Here are the facts- Police 51 was tasked to the search for the missing boat, task turned down due to weather being out of limits. Just checked and first time Police 51 got airborne yesterday was 15:25. So no need really for the abuse of Jivusajob.

I did wonder about the Camper Van outside. Seemed like a nice chap though.

So, in summary - another GA helo lost thanks to someone thinking that he was a much better pilot than he actually was and trying to fly in poor weather (and low level over the water for f***s sake!).

Another pressonitis victim - this time lucky enough to survive - when will people listen and learn?

It would appear his boat was found undamaged - his concern for one expensive toy overrode any sensible aviation decisions and cost him another expensive toy.

SHG,
You leave jivusajobs' caravan alone! I've seen it and it's a very nice one with windows, wireless internet and a flushing loo (outside.. but that's beside the point) and he has very good binoculars I'll have you know.
Typical frustrated plank driver, stuck at the pointy end with the door shut so no-one can catch him asleep while he's dreaming about flying helicopters but sadly knows he'll never be allowed to.
Does anyone know why the R44 went in in the first place, someone mentioned engine failure is that right?

Jivusajob .....normally the people who come onto this site and make comments about having loads of money to buy a helicopter but not having any skill etc are either short in stature ( maybe you are ? ) or else they are very ordinary under achievers with a chip on their shoulder ?? Dont think for one minute i am defending a robinson owner , or even this owner who obviously isnt quite good enough of a businessman to buy himself a real helicopter !!
Birddog You know you could never pull a bird like that with a chopper like that .....she will have been hired for sure !!

Wrong on both accounts......a very good buisness man whom only recently down-graded to an R44.....used to spend most of his time flying a jet Ranger

with out wanting to upset any one and I not slagging him off in the same way others seem to. But you got to leave stuff like that to the pros, for the very reason it happened in the first place.

It's gone from a boat missing on a loch, which last time I looked was in land so the boat won't have sailed off to sea. To a full blown crash which included time from rescue services, an air ambo, crash investigators...etc...

Crabs kind of got a point

Rick

I'm afraid that flying helicopters looks too challenging for me! Can't wait to get back on to the Boeing which has an autothrottle! Sit back and sip the coffee/read The Herald. All in the life of a pilot.... I mean bus driver.

Only thing I'd like about your job is not having to take my bloody shoes off everytime I turn up to work in the morning. Think the Russian bloke really loves a good wiff.

SHG

@Clydeport person

I can't recall exactly when I heard Police 51 the other day but I'm about 60% sure that I did! Morning, afternoon, late afternoon I can't remember. Was a busy sector day with a minor problem to deal with at Birmingham....!

Cheers

SHG

Edit to say BUDGIE Loch Long connects to Firth of Clyde and is a "sea loch".

She sure beats Nora Batty, doesn't she Nige?

That was Gisele Bundchen - She got her ticket in Boston so she could fly herself to NYC for modeling appointments, or so the rags said...

It was posted for the benefit of those earlier wondering if "nice tone mean add 20 stone"...

I am totally confused.

Little information on this accident, the only person who appears to know something of what happened says "good pilot, WX not the problem" yet massive rush to judgement of "pilot should have known better" "poor WX planning" = pilot error.

Another thread - Norway accident - professional pilot with passengers. Over MTW, outside C of G, back side of the power slope (perhaps even hovering OGE) with a fog bank preventing continued transit to destination. No rush to judgement against the pilot.

Is that what a CPL buys you over a PPL? Being treated here with a little more respect?

Indeed. But no mention of searching for a stolen boat, no reference to where he took off from, and no mention of the weather. Only that "the pilot commented that he had had to concentrate hard during his 25 minute flight". 60nm in 25 mins is an average of 144 knots - in an R44??

NS,

I would re-read the report and then amend your post as necessary before the judgemental ones on this site start on you.
