QinetiQ Mi-8MTV

Does anyone know the story behind the QinetiQ Mi-8MTV? I think I'm correct in saying I've seen it a few times over Salisbury Plain but why are the British military using it?

About 5400ft, no idea how much weight they are carrying. If you work for J McD you probably have this info by now...

It's being used for training Afghan pilots. (It's not a secret)
