TTB - check out The Red Lion Country Inn near Andover- free landing if you eat there. Maybe suitable for our next management training day

Checked it out and looks good, so hope the Wx is OK for our 'management meeting' - have you booked it yet?

TTB

PS that looks suspiciously like G-BXKL on the lawn, a 25,000 hour Jetranger I used to fly a long time ago (now based at EGHO).

Edited: BLIMEY! Just noticed G-BKZI sitting on the lawn in the FAQ section too!! Another old bird - a 1967 vintage Jetranger - had a wheezy C18 in it when I flew her... <sigh>

Last edited by toptobottom; 10th Nov 2009 at 22:45. Reason: added BKZI comment!

Danesfield House Hotel and Spa Conference venue near London, meeting rooms, Hotel conference room has a marked helipad spot behind the hotel. No landing fee to guests (including lunch only!). Not cheap but very impressive if you take the other half for lunch or a weekend of pampering (mucho brownie points earned for me there!).

West of Marlow, on the N bank of the River Thames.

Broadoaks Country House Hotel is a fabulous old luxury hotel, a stone's throw from Windermere in the Lake District. PPR and they'll mark an 'H' on the bowling green for you! Lat/Long here. Not the cheapest, but excellent value.

Try Sudlow farms, they own most of the land between Knutsford and the J19 services. Sorry I don't have their number but I'm sure they'll be in the yellow pages. Hope that helps.

Cheers

I have a site south of Altrincham you could land at. It is about 5 miles from Knutsford. If its any use let me know and I can give you more details.

The Novotel on J7 A1M has a pad Stevenage / Knebworth and my colleague tells me they look after you.

There is another I know nothing about which is just north of J8 on the M1 if I am not mistaken which is a hotel and has a pad. I have seen PremiAir come out of that a long while ago.

F Word Nominee with farm strip and Arrow Mill

I've been meaning to post an entry for the Pheasant at Keystone for a while. It's just south of the A14 and West of Grafham Water is 200m from a farm strip operated by their landlord. I've been in there for lunch or a pint (of lemonade) several times. Now I see it's overall runner up in this year's best local restaurant on the Tourette's-challenged Gordon Ramsay's F Word, currently showing on Channel 4. Just stick a donation in the box behind the bar. Excellent local-sourced food and even a destination suitable for plank drivers. The only downside is that booking may be a bit tricky for a while due to interest from the TV show.

Also been into the Arrow Mill at Alcester, SW of Stratford on Avon a couple of times. I can't find mention of the Arrow before but apologies if a repeat. Owned by the keen rotarian Dennis Woodhams, helicopters are actively encouraged, and he is an charming and engaging host interested in all aspects of aviation, still owning a Tiger Moth as far as I know, and quite a lot of deliveries for Heli Air to some quite far-flung destinations in his log book.

Does anyone know of a site for landing & possibly overnight parking near Loughborough? Leicester is a bit far and East Midlands is likely to be pricey. East Midlands Helicopters site at Costock would be pretty much ideal, but they want £60/day just to land.

Griffin Helicopters list West Beacon Farm and Battleflat; I don't think West Beacon are operating (can't find any contact details except a postal address), and not having much luck with Battleflat either.

There are a few hotels in the area, but I'm not looking for accomodation, just somewhere safe to park up.

I'm going to be phoning around anyway, but does anyone know of anything that might suit?

Have you tried asking the University?

They have a site that they use at 52°45'21.83"N, 001°14'47.34"W.

HLS in Aldershot anyone?

Hi team

I'm looking for an HLS in Aldershot. Literally just inside the Southern edge of Farnborough MATZ (or as near to there as I can get). Anyone know of any places, hotels, golf courses etc?

Or you could take a caring friend who would happily drive the 206 around whilst you do your ground stuff!

Lumley Castle and Slaley Hall.

Lumley Castle in Chester-Le-Street, Co Durham has a good helipad though a little confined. Landing fee is £200 which is reduced to £100 if flying into an event. Either way, i've been in a couple of times and you have to walk into the Castle to pay your money etc, no one to greet you or any hospitality.

Slaley Hall, great place, just North of Derwent Reservoir. Been in a good few times, people to greet you when landing and escort you, very friendly etc. No landing fee at all. Definately recommend it!
