Veritair lose Police contract to Bond
Word on the street is that Bond have just secured the contract for the South and East Wales Police helicopter from next year.
British International Helicopters subsidiary Veritair has the contract at the moment.
Bond's first police contract south of the border?

I think it's more than "on the street"; rotorhub has it on their site.
To be accurate, Veritair is the company, BIH is a trading name for a particular division of that company, that reflects its origins.

BIH bought Veritair out a while back, kept JV on as manager of the operation. He is allegedly currently suspended from flying for over cooking two engines on a 355N.
BASL have won the contract and plan to be there for a considerable time (Elsewhere actually). So JV has lost his contract, lease hold and captaincy....
BASL are a very efficient operator and there is no doubt they have put their cards on the table with this foray into the south of the border police market. Whether others want a full turnkey operation remains to be seen.
It has got to be very good news for the SEWASU consortium.

Many years ago when JV picked up the contract it was understood that the company [then Veritair] was the favoured 'Welsh' operator of the local authority owned Cardiff Heliport.
One rebuild of the facilities later JV/BIH maintain that position although the greatly expanded place is clearly designed to be used by many operators not just BIH.
So although Cardiff HP is not a BIH facility their hold on the property is enough to ensure that other operators [in this case BASL] decide to go elsewhere and build a new facility at an RAF station over which they have greater control and at which they can have 'hands on' the fuel and building prices.
Will this make a difference if the penny drops in City Hall Cardiff?

A lesson to all managers (not aimed at this situation, just generally), you cannot sit on your laurels and expect your contracts to renew automatically. Treat your customers with respect and do not let them down by running short on staff or spares. We all know of instances where aircraft have been off-line for lack of spares or pilots and it will not be forgotten at renewal time. This is an obvious statement........ isn't it???

It would appear they are looking (they are even offering to assist pilots without the correct hours)
