Downtown Los Angeles, looking North East.

Fame at last!! Your namesake in writing for you, Captain Hollywood!

The marine layer spilling over the hills at Monterey Bay, just south of San Francisco.

Took a trip to the Hiller Aviation Museum at San Carlos. This wee beastie has ram jet engines on the blades. Talking to one of the guides it was, apparently, one of the loudest aircraft he's ever heard and burned a staggering 130 gallons per hour!

A rather undignified end......

A million thanks to John Eacott and Heliport.

The following pictures were taken from slides from a personal collection. They were taken in the west coast of Canada sometime in 1958. That is all I know really. Would love to know if anyone in pprune-land have flown this type or even better know who the crew are. Enjoy..!

As promised here are some from the recent photo shoot at Pax River of the AH1Z and UH1Y.

Autorotate.

P.S. More to come if anyone is interested and in the second image you can see that our camera ship dwarfed the other two aircraft substantially.

Mexican AH69-XYZ

Now that the Spanish have pulled out of Irak we are getting ready to go replace them with our troops! Shown here during troop insertion practice.

(This was taken just for fun by the owner of the helicopter here in Mexico, the hats kept flying away!)

Thumbs up

Blender,

I haven't stopped chuckling since I saw that picture - the best for months! Thanks for an essential bit of light relief - if it wasn't for the PPRuNe calendars I'd have that as my desktop.

PS. I have about 700 Mb of spare capacity on a server if anyone is looking to get some images/video posted. I'm not likely to use it, or the associated bandwidth, so if someone else wants to use it then please PM me.

Going into LAX. The helipads are located on the roof of the top left hand building of the group surrounding the tower. The clearance goes something like "Cross 25 left midfield at 1500 feet, landing West pads at your own risk"
The airport is about 130 feet MSL. It's a hairy approach, with no room for a go-around!

Thanks to John Eacott.

Out of interest, what are they seeding out of that hopper, and how many passes would they get out of one load? Seems like it's spewing out!

Simlink - They are spreading superphosphate fertilizer. Its not really about how many passes as they might just do one long pass covering a number of paddocks or they might do ten or so passes if its a small paddock so its like how long is a piece of string.

407driver - They are based at Ardmore airfield just south of Auckland but the topdressing was being done out towards Alfriston, country suburb of Auckland and the spraying out on the Manukau Pensinula, over the other side of the harbour from Auckland Intl Airport.
