He can do that only as long he can crew the operations,,,,,if enough folks take him up on the "...or else"....the change will not happen.
I don't think that crewing operations is the problem, as they are hopelessly over crewed for the diminishing amount of work they have. It's a cheap way to reduce pilot numbers.

So when are they going to cull that bloated top heavy office in Lagos. Keep cutting pilots and engineers but continue to support a massive office staff. If and when Caverton take escravos bristow will only have around 14 contracted aircraft in country. They need to take a proper look at how many managers, MDs, Hr and finance, engineering support staff they really need to be profitable from that number of aircraft. It aint many.
Plus how many of those dedicated, loyal guys who have just lost 2 weeks family time are going to remain when the industry picks up. The good will go and leave the dross behind yet again.

You're in Nigeria, remember? It's a Nigerian co. run by Nigerians. Why do you think everything here is as bad as it is? If they knew what they were doing, things would be a lot different
8 + 4? We'd have loved that, we were 2 months/1 month, and if you did December/January you had to be back on the day of the month in February, thus having 31 days x 2 with a 28 day month off! 
Reminds me of a conversation I had with TWY about his first posting to Nigeria in 1968 straight from the Navy - one year on, one month off. Then he was posted to Iran on four months on, one month off and thought "this is the roster for me and I don't want to change". 8/4 was standard for years in BHL until a) they had a bunch of hostage situations in Nigeria and, b) BHNL split away and the salaries and cross-BU movement conditions changed dramatically, which meant they had to recruit all the 3Ms (Mercernaries, Misfits and Missionaries) that other touring companies used but BHL had never had to previously

It's sad that after more than 50 years of Operations Aero has finally gone the way of so many other Nigerian airlines. The corruption which has killed off so many Nigerian ventures, combined with an economy in free fall has finally brought it to its knees. I'm sorry for the staff and their families

Absolutely tragic. Apart from the obvious impact on staff and contract workers the negative effect on the domestic travelling public will be huge. Aero were the only barely punctual way to get from a to b. Their rotary business was also the main foil used by the oil multinationals to maintain a competitive tendering process until the plunder of their coffers began.
The parallel previously drawn between Venezuela and Nigeria appears somewhat prophetic in hindsight. One glaring difference is that the people are rallying to oust President Maduro; somehow I doubt such cohesive action is a realistic prospect in a country riven by religious/tribal loyalties.
