TYA, the more injured pilot from the Eket ambush, has responded well to treatment and is having the main operation on Christmas Eve. I am sure I type for all when wishing him and his family Best Wishes for a full and speedy recovery.
IM, the other shot pilot, returned to work yesterday. Welcome back !

S-92 in Nigeria
Seems strange the S-92 delivered to Nigeria had ice rate meters on the intakes and blade de-ice just what you want in Nigeria! , when the first Bristow 92's arrived in the UK they had no de-ice gear fitted, explane that bit of logic to me!!
Also the 92 is about the only a/c i've worked on with a decent boot , no ploblem for 19 rig pigs bags (have never cubed out with 17 pax in Oz)

I'm sure Bristow would put Aircon in any of their aircraft if the customer requested it, why don't the oil companies list it as part of the equipment when they put a tender out? reason being they know they will have a weight penalty.
I know of 2 cases where the customer was offered aircon, but when they realised it would cost them at least one passenger, they turned it down.

AirCon Aircrew
To heck with the passengers, what about the crew that has to endure in the cockpit all day? This is a big HSE issue and the customer shouldn't be the one to decide. They should pay for it, period!
The 155 gets you all sweaty does it?
I still recall with horror seeing some see thru Bristow Uniform shirts when the 155's were first introduced!

212man, wade in on this....
I don't think you can buy an S92 without air-con. Sorry, despite the best efforts of both the operator and the oil company, both the pilots and passengers are doomed to be comfortable in that aircraft. Ask the saps in the ACN 225 if they have aircon.

Malabo, 2 of the first 92's sold to Cougar didn't have aircon, they didn't think they would need it in Newfyland, .....wrong! I think they have now been retrofitted with it, if the aircon fails the air coming out the vents is almost 40 oC, the MEL says you can fly without it but you wouldn't get me in one without the aircon working it is a flying oven!
Definatly a work/health safety issue for the crew without aircon , major chance of heatstress/fatigue.
Also Bristow Australia have run Aircon in there S-76's in oz for at least 10 years.

Aircon, and what else ? A beer ?
Sorry guys, but ACN's 225 have no aircon, no moving map....
ACN is even unable to provide crews with a decent place where to live, so imagine such a luxury as aircon...

Bristow Australia have, as Blackhawk9 says, had air conditioning in the
ex Jordanian S76A+s since 1994.
The Bell 206L based on Barrow/Thevenard had air conditioning from when it was purchased.
Air conditioning is standard equipment on an S-92 from the factory. It is not standard on an EC225.

In defense of Bristow and the 155's....the 155's and the Dorniers were spec'd and purchased by Shell for Bristow to operate.
The shame of the matter is Shell refused to even look at the Bell 412 offered for appraisal at Redhill by Bell Helicopters.
I wonder who retired to the South of France from Shell?

Its nice to see the PRRUNE-CON threat level has reduced!
A few days ago it was all APCs and worried about frying tonight.
Now its being slow poached is the biggest issue. Tried putting that in an ASR boys
Best wishes to all the boys & girls in Nigeria working over the festive season. May it only be your turkeys that are stuffed!

Of course, it's preferable to fly a type where your sunglasses fog up as you step out the door at the end of the flight

Ebony Bar
This was closed when Bristow moved out of Esa Akpan over two years ago. Since then there has been no Bristow or any other company bar in Eket, it has been Darrels hotel bar.
Now it is MGH bar which means two tins and bed or you get reported to ExxonMobil management for excessive drinking and Bristow chuck you out. No more venting of spleens to wash out the day, at least not in front of the client.

I wonder what happened to Jackson and Sunday - anyone know?
Nigerian In Law
212man,
Jackson and Sunday are both employed privately by some of the guys to cook, clean etc in Darrels. Now it's MGH I don't know what will happen to them.
However I'm pretty sure MGH won't be permanent as ExxonMobil won't want scumbag contractors messing up their inner sanctum too long. So the guys will be moved out to some other place. In the interim I am sure they are being looked after.

NEO,
When ever did "venting of spleens" in front of the customer ever work?
There was a time when "venting of spleens" in front of company management did not work either....alcohol provoked or not.
Drinking with the customer has never worked....any place...any time...by any body. Sooner or later one of the hung over customers will look up front and see you and think you are in the same shape he is...despite the fact you in fact did have your two tins and leg it for your crib.
You know that is true....and the current situation is far from novel.
