Attached cover letter, despite the contents being largely the same as the motivation box that I filled in when a cover letter wasn't required! Does anyone know if we need to wait until the closing date to hear back, or do they start processing applications immediately on receipt?

does your cover letter show anywhere on the application now? I added mine and it had a pop up saying it was added so I saved and exited the application but when I look back in to it I can’t see it - not sure if it’s cause it’s an “additional file” so it’s not showing. I don’t want to add it again and it show twice but I don’t want to not add it again if it’s not saved it so wondering if anyone else who has added it can now see it?

Hi, I am 16 and currently doing GCSES. I would really like to be a pilot one day. Although my parents are willing to pay for it, they plan to retire in a few years, making schemes like this one of my only choices. Does anyone have any tips to go about the next few years of my life, so after finishing A-Levels, I would be able to apply?
For A Levels the most desirable ones are Mathematics and Physics. Other than that you could also take a test flight and if you enjoy that start towards a PPL (although expensive). Check out air cadets as it could also be something you could do.

I am currently an Air Cadet, have been for the past 3 years, and am taking Maths Further Maths, Physics and DT A-Levels. I have taken a test flight with the air cadets, and absolutely loved it, and have applied to do my PPL if lucky with Fantasy Wings.
My only real gripe with doing my PPL early is that if I do have to pay for it myself (the whole training for ATPLS), I would have to pay again to do it if I did an integrated course.
Is there anything else I can do to stand out, I am trying to get aviation based work experiences and virtual experiences, and have been to BA's Future Flyer Seminar

I’d also recommend trying to find some volunteering. It can be a bit challenging to find opportunities sometimes but emailing local airfields, aircraft museums or even events has worked really well for me. It’s a great way to get some more experience and network on top of general work experience.

What else do you do though? Being an avid avgeek is fine in and of itself but what else makes you interesting as an individual? If you say ‘oh, I also have grade 8 piano and have played at the Royal Albert Hall twice this year’, that’s really cool. That makes you stand out. Remember, if you’re applying to a scheme, there will be thousands of other astonishingly keen people that you need to compete against. Don’t go and make up a hobby if you don’t have one. But try and think what your non-planes USP is.

I’d say the aviation side of your application will already be above where most other people are able to be when they apply for airline scheme X. Don’t worry about a PPL, not at all necessary. If you could go solo though, that’s a really good tick on the ‘is this person actually motivated or have they just seen an advert’ mark sheet. This’ll also save you many many thousands…

I understand that none of these are quite standout, and I will hopefully improve them along the way. In regards to the Class 1 Medical, I will attempt to get that ASAP.
Do you have any recommendations of something standout that I can do? I plan to enter another engineering competition next year, but I am not sure what else I can do

Unable to submit application
Is anyone else struggling to submit their application? I've answered all the questions but when I go to hit submit... nothing happens. Have tried a few times today but still no luck.

They always did that, you just need to scroll down a bit to a section that talks about interactive quiz and then a button to apply. I’m not sure about the submission error though, and idk if anyone else has had it.

Having a similar issue, when I press submit it flags that there is an issue with the CV/Cover Letter section, despite both docs seemingly uploaded OK. Any help appreciated.

Glad I'm not the only one! I've reached out to the recruitment team so will post an update on this thread when they get back to me (fingers crossed that will be tomorrow...)

Have you tried restarting the application/pressing the apply button on the initial page again. I think that allowed people to submit.

Thanks for posting this, it worked for me. Anyone having similar trouble submitting just “re-apply” for the programme. You can load the application that won’t submit to copy and paste answers. Good luck everyone.
