Training Confusions - HELP!
Hey everyone,
I'd like to say I'm new here however I registered over 10 years ago when first deciding to look into the industry...after several office jobs and working for myself I've managed to scrape together £75k to put to use for my dream...which is exactly what it is so please don't discredit saying "put it into a business"...I've done that, I'm bored
After looking around the web at the different schools, naturally the CAEOAA Oxford route is a little more pricey, as with the FTE Jerez intergrated.
I recently passed the symbiotic assessment with 2FLY PRO PILOT - really high scores and they offered me a place. I've done some digging on here and the last time they were reviewed was over 18 months ago - mixed messages, some saying stay away and others having a good experience....is there any CURRENT updates to them? They fall within the budget at £69,995 and take me from 0 - ATPL with a JOC.
I've already read on here about people completing doing the modular route for £40-50k...I'd be happy if I can do these back to back as I'm literally taking a year out to do the license. Even modular I'd want to be onsite somewhere, NOT distance learning.
So my second question - What exactly is required from a modular perspective to go from 0 - ATPL? I'd hate to book some courses and get to the end thinking I've missed something...
And lastly is there any other recommended schools out there anyone has used for integrated training?

First off, work on getting the terminology right, the details really matter in this industry.
What they are taking you from is 0-CPL + IR for £69,995, not an ATPL.
There is a hugh amalgamated thread on modular v integrated, which I'd imagine the mods will merge this onto the end of, but this is a very fundamental part of your own research, no anonymous name here is going to give you a convincing enough argument to warrant parting with an extra £30,000 of your hard earned cash.
Visit the schools yourself, talk to the instructors as the relationship between instructor and student is actually far more important than the name on the door.
A year probably isn't enough for a 0-hero course, especially if you're looking at integrated, I'd allow at least two years.

It's hard to gauge from your post whether or not you know the actual stepping stones to gaining a fATPL.
To break it down and summarise for you; if you are going to go down modular route this is what you need to do and the order you need to do it in PPL - ATPL theory - Hour Building - UPRT - CPL/MEIR - MCC/JOC - apply for jobs.

The very first thing should always be get a class one medical, just in case there's an underlying medical issue. Then get a PPL, to make sure you actually like it. I'd recommend a month in sunny FL or similar.

fATPL is an unofficial term for those who graduate from flight schools (or get same licences and certificates on their own, shopping around), yes. That includes generally either modular or integrated programme with PPL/CPL+IR+ME/IR and atpl ground theory.
For example before first job I had done PPL, CPL, SEP IR, ATPL theories, ME/IR, UPRT, MCC and JOC (not in that order). Some cram an FI rating somewhere, too.
fATPL comes from frozen ATPL, meaning a person has everything apart from required experience for full ATPL. Market is full of fATPLs, but a bit short of ATPLs.
I wish you luck. Now looks like a good time to get qualified, but no one knows what's the situation in a few years time.

As above, fATPL is a term only used by flying schools, no such licence exists, and even within the industry it isn't even clear what an fATPL is. Does it include an MCC? What about a JOC?
What exactly are you getting for your £69,995? Will you have an SEP rating? MEP?
You are much better off talking in actual licencing terms, then it is clear what you have. You are aiming for a CPL + MEIR either with or without MCC and JOC certificates.
