I would be willing to pay for a type rating at the end of my training as long as it came after a job offer. I don't want to close the door so to speak to other airlines that require TR's on different aircraft to the one I would have. How do you sell this on your CV and application?

You may also wish to check out...
There's also a website here that a trainee pilot used to keep a diary while he was at Jerez. It goes right the way upto first passenger carrying flights too, with piccies and some videos of the type rating....

The TR diary was entertaining but this Line Training description really does give a sense of the discipline and depth of knowledge/skill required to fly the actual 'line'.
I am somewhat confused how can you work full time and yet undergo line training simultaneously (has human cloning already taken place )? Do you fly the line regularly or just seldom?
Very interesting indeed and well done!

In terms of Airbus I guess Eaglejet are the only ones that I can think of. There might be a couple of other TRTOs on the continent that will combine the TR with some line time (airbus) but again not sure about that.
Also a good point would be to check out waiting times too for such schemes.

737NG time
Hi
I am in the unfortunate position that I am considering bying a typerating.
So my question is, since I dont think it is very usefull without hours.
Where can one buy hours if one allready has the 737NG typerating?
Looking for maybe 100 hours. And how much is it?
Henrik
PS. I allready know about Pegasus
Thank you

I really think that you should reconsider.
I have paid for a TR on the NG in the beginning of 2006 but never found a job.
Instead of that I paid for another TR with a proper job offer with a TP operator.
I really think that it is useless to pay for a TR without any job guarantee. In case of you think that I could be the problem, please reconsider. I have three friend of mine who are exactely in the same position. Big hole in the wallet and no jet job. Two of them were rated without hours on type and the third one has been fired by Air berlin after 130 hours and he's still looking after one year.
Do not pay to work as a F/O, you're destroying the whole profession as well as yourself. Even if you're decided, good luck with eaglejet (huge prices and waiting times), pegasus and the few others who are running this kind of buisness.
With eaglejet you pay the whole UPFRONT and depending where you're going you can get into big troubles to get what you've paid for.
Try again, work harder on your cv, cover letters, relationships... It will happen.

I sympathise with your position as a newly qualifiad atpl myself I am looking at paying for a type somewhere down the line. However I think we are fairly lucky in the uk market compared to the rest of Europe.Almost every single person that i knew finished training about three years ago are now employed.I met two Italian chaps while training in Spain and they have been fully qualified for five years without jobs.
Paying for a type is still a gamble but here it can get your cv noticed.

A320 Type Rating with Line Training
Hi,
Apart from Storm Aviation and maybe Astraeus/Bond Aviation (in the near future) can anybody tell me any organisations that offer an A320 Type Rating with Line Training? I have heard this question asked a few times in older threads but not many replies?
Thanks for the help in advance.

Type Rating PRICES
Can anyone point me to areas on websites where I can see price information for a Type Rating?
I guess if I had a choice, I would choose either an A320 or 737NG type rating.
