Naples Air Centre

hey all,

am looking at getting flight training in the southern states..for a long time i have been looking at Naples Air centre for training as they train for both JAA and FAA in one qualification....

Does anyone have any infomation about the quality of the training there..it seems a very good place via web but then who would talk bad about themselves!!

for $40,000 350 hours frozen atpl with JAA and FAA seems very cheap compared to some of the prices i have seen..

i suppose i am just looking for any external infomation

thanks

Dont forget to add the same for living, accommadation, IR, MCC etc. Make sure you read the amount of Extras listed on the site, then add 10%. I got a total of near 74,000USD including UK conversion, IR and MCC.

I went for a look see at NAC and a couple of others, my personal opinion is that the planes I were shown ( a couple of warriors, c152's, c172's) were in bad shape, I dont know about internally, but they were dirty and smelly, lotsof broken little bits like smashed bits of plastic on them, the windows were so dirty I was amazed anyone could fly them! The C152's were smelly, dirty and I noticed the ones I was shown all appeared to have different equipment in them. The C172's were the most rundown planes I personally ( highlight personally as this is just my opinion) I have ever seen, lots of patched paint, mouldy interiors, and corrosion everywhere on all 3 of them. The 'new' c172 wasnt much better, it was once new yes, but it was a bit unloved nowadays, and I was told it was a 97 model, which is hardly new as they advertised. Overall the worst planes in my 10 years of hanging around little planes I have ever seen at a flight school.

Thats my 2 pennies worth, but I struck this school off my list due to the condition of the planes, PLUS I nearly forgot, the guy at the desk must have been having a bad day or something, he wasnt really interested in helping me, and there was another woman there who sat at her desk and totally ignored me,if it wasnt for the other guy turning up, sitting at his pc, clicking for a bit and then asking me what I was doing there I dont think anyone would have helped me!!! In the end it was one of the ground school guys who actually showed me around after a while sitting !

But I suggest you go and take a look at these USA schools before parting with your dosh. Dont trust the posters here, even my post is from experience a couple of months old now, things may be better, or worse now. It will be well worth a week out scouting around.

done my atpl groundschool and some flying with them.
2 atpl clasrooms, the main one feels like prison, no window and to many people sitting on top of each other, not a good lerning enviromant.Other classroom smaller then closet.Bad course notes,
not a lot of info in them.Shockingly unprofesional CGI with not a lot of knowledge in the subjects, the other teachers are ok.
Extreme rude management that makes you feel like the necessary evil that comes with the money. I dont understand how these secretarys think. Maybe they think just because they are cheaper then some schools (on paper only) they can give as bad service as they want. Not good way to run business.
Always doublecheck your bills, they will overcharge. You have to beg to get deposit back, sometimes not even that helps.
Very old planes, some of them are scary. Some good instructors some not.
Not long back a instructor with student ran out of fuel on a training flight, have to make a forced landing.

If you are looking for sun, old people and golfcoarses you will find it here in naples. If you are looking for profesional pilot training you will not.

Yes I register today, no I am not a angry competitor or a lier and I have never been fired by them. All I am is a angry customar who waste a lot of time and money for nothing

Naples Air Centre

Seems to be more and more written about NAC....
I recently went to NAC and completed my PPL there.
On the whole it is fine. Yes there were some problems like not always flying twice a day - but if this was the case the guys behind the desk did try to do their best to accomodate you. plus nikki knows what its all about as she is now a qualified instructor. Andrew, the CFI, is a top guy and really helpful.
Im not too sure why people always write that the accomodation is so far away - its no more than a 10/15 min cycle ride away - really not an issue.
Some of the planes are old but thats why your getting a good price! if u want to pay a bit more then try the newer 172 - not flown so much and in great condition.
re instruction - i had a v good thorough instructor - on the whole most people seemed happy with theirs.
As far as deposit - i got mine back within 2 weeks - no hassle.
just watch out for the cats!

<<edit: Sorry, flyingmad - had to merge your post, it doesn't deserve two threads (especially when they are both identical titles)>>

My recomendation is go to NAC, I dont think you'll find a school any better.

Yes the planes are old, but not unsafe (if they were i wouldnt fly in them) as for dirty, they never have been when ive been there.

The instructors are always great, ive never had a bad one, and I keep going back there.

The staff are always helpfull, yes sometimes rude. But arnt you rude on an off day when your in a bad mood.

Yes you do have to call them for your deposit back, but its only one phone call and they send it straight away.

Overall its a great place, everybody is one big team there.

I disagree. The quality of schools in the USA varies hugely, and it would appear by some other posts in this thread that little has changed at NAC during the last 15 months, at least.

Pearcy- do some research into this school and others, you will find that some schools routinely throw up good reviews, others routinely throw up bad reviews and a small number throw up a mixed bag of opinions. Make your decision by talking to the students who are at the school at the time: in other words, ring the school and say, "hi, I'm a prospective customer. Can I talk to one of your current [insert course title here] students please?".

If the answer is no, thank the chap or chappess politely for their time, put the phone down and strike that school off your list! Any school worth their salt will let you talk to a variety of current and recent students.

Absolutely not.Your being paid (indirectly by your customers) to be polite, facilitating and courteous. What happens when you are rude to customers?Exactly what you see here on pprune!
