NIMBYs are at it again!

Im sure this happened a year or so ago as well..

But on my evening bike ride (throw myself off anything steep and pointy).... I came across a series of little A5 handwritten photocopied things thumbtacked to trees at various points....

Eventually curiosity got the better of me so I stopped to inspect them..... Im going to paraphrase somewhat, but it basically said

Are you, like me, annoyed by these small planesflying over the hills at all hours of the day ruining our peace and quiet. If you wish to complain these are the perpetrators...Followed by a list of local flying companies, airfields and phone numbers
Now, I may be biased, but I have lived here for the last 20 years and have never seen any aircraft flying in a way that would be deemed riske'.... Ok, the hills are a bit of a landmark so they are used as a flying waypoint, but most if not all are well above...We are on a transit path between quite a lof of popular airfields.... The noise is barely an issue...

Needless to say, I removed all of the notes from the trees and binned them....

This coward didnt have the balls to put their contact number on the pieces of paper so people could, if they wished, call them up and complain about the litter and vandalism of the trees!!!

If I ever catch this person in the act....I am afraid I might have to educate them by inserting foot

Its probably some guy on a personal mission printing the stuff off his own computer.

You do get weirdos like that. I came up behind a small car which looked as if the owner had strung blue flashing fairy lights around the rear window.

In the car was a gentleman in a tweed cap and a lady. As I went to overtake he accelerated so I pulled back in Line.

I tried again with the same reaction but this time he pulled out into the offside lane.

I was now furious " stupid man has he not got anything to do with his life other than self policing the highway"?

Nest time I blasted past put on my hazard warning lights and angrily waved him down. I approached his window and said angrily" have you nothing more to do with your empty life than acting like a pathetic person and a weirdo"?

At that point he pulled out his police officer documents. I burst out laughing and so did he so I got let off as He saw the funny side too.

But yes there are a bunch of weirdos who have such empty lives they run around on crusades trying to make themselves feel important and aviation is one of their favourite targets.

I was wondering who had nicked my notices... fed up with all those mods and rockers riding their 2 wheeled devil-machines too... I'll include them in the re-print.

Just been to Poundsaver for some blue fairy lights, I'm going to put them in the back window my car alongside my Churchill nodding dog and tartan travel rug.

Signed.... Disgusted of Lincolnshire

nimbys

Just ley them know that there were small planes flying low over hills in 1940. The flying club was the RAF. They were engaged in a flyout called the Battle of Britain. they may not know, or want to know that was one of the most decisive battles in modern human history.

Then hopefully they will understand from that it may have inspired people in the UK and from that has had a love of aviation associated with a second to none romantic and professional attitude to flying in all guises. From wonderful aircraft to some of the most beautiful airfields there are.

Let them know that there is a community of people (called pilots), for the most part, help and assist each other when some other walks of life seem to have lost that calling.

Educate them that we sometimes view the world in a unique and picturesque way and that we would like to share that experience with them and others.

Yes, i know i may have had a glass of wine or two and that i am imagining a world full of reasonable people. its a good thought though

I found a notice pinned to a tree in a layby a few years ago. It was a note from some bloke explaining he had a gorgeous wife and he would pay other blokes to have sex with her while he watched. It gave a phone number and no I didn't phone him!!

A few years ago we had notices pinned to all the lampposts in a local road objecting to a proposed issue. As I did not agree with their campaign (!) I rang up the local council who advised me such posts were illegal and they despatched personnel to remove all of the said notices.

Maybe a call to the council would be an idea.
