Grounded SLF abuses BA Cabin Crew at M6 services.
Right I'll put the post here because it will end up here any way.
This afternoon my better half was abused and berated by a total stranger on the car park of a north bound M6 sevices. She is so upset she can not even remember which one she was at. This "gentleman" asked her if she worked for BA. This was fairly obvious as she was still in uniform. We live in the Northwest, she is LGW longhaul. (Shortly to be LHR). When she said yes he proceeded to verbally abuse her because he was having to drive this Sunday and not catch his usual flight. Well Mister, on the off chance you or a friend of yours may read this, what do you think she was doing on the M6? She had just got back from the US this morning and was now having to drive herself home. She had driven down to LGW on Friday evening and had a hell of a journey then as the courtesy car the garage gave her whilst hers is in dock, broke down. Any one who was on the M6 this afternoon will know that the return home was no picnic either. Many people, given the underlying reason for all this inconvinence, would have gone sick any way. She won't do that. Having got over a spot of cancer she regards each and every day as a gift and gets on with her life and the job she still (just about) loves.
YOU,SIR, ARE THE SCUM OF THE EARTH. I SUGGEST YOU TAKE YOUR COMPLIANT TO THE PEOPLE REALY RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR PLIGHT. IN CASE YOU HAD NOT REALISED, IT IS NOT THE FAULT OF THE AIRLINE INDUSTRY!Though I suspect there is not much chance of that.Any man who abuses a woman like that is just a spine-less jerk any way.

Always upsetting when this happens, and only a moron would abuse someone like that, who is caught in the melee along with the pax.
Give tons of TLC to the Missus.....she sounds like one in a million - and a credit to the profession.
Most of the pax understand it's not our fault, and we're striving to provide as normal a service in the most abnormal of circumstances....

You're right of course; it is extremely unlikely that he or his will be reading this as it is even less likely that the complete w*nker can read anyway.

Perhaps she could have offered to take his name and address and forward them to the relevant authorities, then signed him up to a load of mailing lists so he never lacks something to open in the morning.
Seriously tho, that kind of unwarranted attack is completely out of order, but what goes around comes around. He will get his comeuppance!

maybe now as things start to get back to normal he will again vent his feelings to the check in person on his next flight, who will promptly deny him boarding and ban in from all BA flights!

I wouldn't do what this person did, but two things to remember.....
1 - he was abusing BA, not your better half (not that that makes it any less pleasant) - I imagine it was not personal
2 - it is wise to change out of uniform before travelling away from the airport
In 2001, as a consultant to BA, I had to be escorted by Polizei from the terminal at FRA during heavy disruption because someone realised I was on duty travel at check in and I was threatened with violence.
Not nice, but these things happen.
I sympathise with your partner.

Doubledolphins,
Felt so sorry for your partner when I read this thread; disgraceful behaviour towards a lady. Please give her my best regards and I hope she gets over this idiot soon, but I'm afraid there are a few of them around. Hope that you've bought her some flowers to cheer her up a bit!

F3G why should she have to change out of uniform? The poor woman has got back from the states and all she wants to do is go home, never mind fannying around changing first?
There is NO excuse for this behaviour. The man in question is a first class prat who should be deeply ashamed of his beviour. British Airways didn't cause these delays.
Idiot.

She should not have to, but it is sensible to, given the yob culture prevalent in the UK.
Why do policemen change after their shifts?
The guy was way out of order, all I am saying is that part of not being a victim of abuse is not putting oneself in a position of being a victim - no uniform, no connection with BA, no abuse.
I was threatened at FRA for something that was not an action of the airline who I happened to be consulting to - but it still happened.
Had I been there and witnessed this incident, I would have intervened on the lady's behalf and said something; I despise this type of behaviour, but if my 19 year old daughter was in the business, I'd counsel her to wear civvies when off duty.

This guy was obviously WAY, WAY out of order, but could it be he confused BA (great company) with BAA (bunch of idiots) ? Frankly, if I was WW, I'd try to put as much water between my company and BAA. Again, doesn't excuse this type of behaviour in any way, just offering a possible explanation. And yes, in any high-vis job: getting out of uniform once job done is always a wise move...

doubledolphins, can you please tell your lady that the ar5ehole that abused her is but one insignificant to55er among the thousands of passengers that have shown their gratitude towards airline staff in general, and BA staff in particular for all their hard work and professionalism these last few days! She is appreciated by a million passengers for every one that bad mouths her!
(Rather like the arrogant Gold Card ba5tard I had on the morning this all kicked off - "There's absolutely no f***ing way I'm checking in this bag" he said "It goes in the cabin with me!"
I smiled politely "Sir! Do you see that guy over there with the police baseball cap on cradling his machine gun? Would you go over to him and repeat that, then run as fast as you can through security and see what happens! Go on - Make my day!"
The passengers in the queue behind were shaking with laughter!)

If I found a uniformed BA cabin crew member at a motorway services, I'd offer to buy them a coffee or whatever in return for all the drinks they've brought to me over the years. Regardless of disruptions, and ESPECIALLY when accentuated by the idiots at BAA.

The cretin giving the abuse has actually committed a criminal offence, I think, of common assault (stand to be corrected here, but if it's sufficient to cause alarm in a person, then it's assault). A quick phone call to the police would have been perfectly in order.
