Re the HS125

I stand corrected - so exactly what is in the Thomas collection?

I recall in "helping" HT transport a ex-RAN Gannet ( I think) from Bankstown out that way - must have been in the late 1960s or early 1970s.

Alice Kiwican the 'van was dunked by Mad Max just off Green Is after an endorsement in-flight-shut-down-and-relight went a bit wrong :{
The 727 and Belfast still work (irregularly) for Heavylift
The Falcon (10 not 20) is owned by the bank after being repossesed from :mad::mad: who is a complete :mad::mad::mad:; the aircraft is basically unsellable.

Anyone know what happened to the old C310Q that stood for years derelict at WGT?
Vh-RIX an ex Hazo's plane
Also the old PA31 that has stood still for many years at AY on the GA Tarmac, another sad mess.

RatsoreA....holy cow!! i was having a drink with an old flight buddy on Tuesday night when he asked if i knew what happened to SAO and did Mal Poulton still own it?? I'll be buggered mate....speak of the devil!! Where is it now??

RatsoreA 30th Jul 2010 09:50

Told you it had been around! That was old and clapped out when I did my PA-31 endo on it all those years ago! And nearly everyone I have spoken to that has PA-31 has flown it!

MP was running skydiving with it all over for a while there, then I heard it got sold to some skydiving mob who couldn't afford the repayments or maintence, and now it is derralict at ymmm. That's what I heard anyway!

bizzybody 30th Jul 2010 10:43

What's the story with that Falcon 10 up in Cairns. been sitting around at various airfields around.

Al Fentanyl 30th Jul 2010 11:06

Bizzybody

Its the only one of the type in the country, previous to the defaulter was owned and operated by Wagners at TWB, only one LAME in the country certified to maintain it, hasn't been flown or maintained for about two years apart from occasional engine runs. Last owner was at ROM, paid $1.2M I think.... actual value is somewhere south of $0.5M.

Grumman Tiger, Como, Perth, Western Australia.

Repurposed as 3 yr old's cubby house (his total air time now getting up to about 40 hrs and about 9000 ground flying hours in the cubby)

Working on lawn towards north as cricket/footy/soccer pitch.

(and you can see the roof tiles off when I was doing some speaker/CAT5 cabling too!)

Im curious about a certain N rego PA31 that sat at Wallis Island Airstrip near
Forster NSW late 1980s to at least early to mid 90s.
It was Rumored that there was a criminal element to it being abandoned.
Anyone know for sure ?

I remember VH-SAO in 1979 when owned by Ozzie in NT, even way back then it was called "SAO The Biscuit Bomber" and considered a heap. Amazing that some of these old girls are still about. Mind you some of the original PA31 pilots are still about as well, at least I flew these things when they were brand new.

These old Boeing 737 classics and Fokker F28's have been sitting in Surabaya, Indonesia for some years now. The airframes are available for sale for around $25K USD. They'd make a nice granny flat if you have enough space in your backyard for a 737.

SAO and IXP were sister ships and when I first knew them had matching Buffalo on the tails (from Ozzie's). I think they were both working for the same bank run operation, owned by ______ Armstrong.

A drilling company bought IXP and had it refurbished (ironically, at Yarrawonga) and Mal bought Soggy SAO - last I spoke to him (last Sept) he was CFI for Brindabella :uhoh: - I hope he was given a suitable parachute from that gig when the decision was made.

IXP still going strong in TW working for Billy Bryant :ok:

I've often wondered how the PA-31 bigots here would feel if they were expected to fly all the Queenairs that were around back in the day.
...The other day I had a 21-year-old genius telling me that the (vv nice) C421 he was flying was "dodgy, just really dodgy" - mostly because it still has (perfectly serviceable) 1977 avionics :ugh:

Kids these days

Yet those twin hours where still more valuable then his life :ugh::ugh::ugh:

185Skywagon, did you really mean SIAI Marchetti S-205-20F VH-SAF? As of late last year it was still rotting away there. :(

yowieII 4th Aug 2010 12:55

DF,
I think you are thinking VH-SAQ, a 350:)
