A question for Chuckles or the good Dr.. These things have an olympic pool sized oil tank sitting up behind the panel, just wondering how much heat it threw back into the cabin?

Not nearly enough!

The heater was U/S and it was a bit chilly up front.

Dr :8

Bevan666 6th Apr 2011 20:58

I bet the cling wrap is there to catch all the leaking oil...:E

Using a GPS in a 195 is obscene. If you blokes were real airmen you would be able to navigate using a pencil and paper and one of those sliderule things.

Lucerne 7th Apr 2011 03:25

I dare say they can..... but why??????

Chimbu chuckles 7th Apr 2011 06:42

Absolutely Bushy-it was a battle royal to limit Forkie to only one portable GPS:ok:

There was a poster at Warrnambool that basically said our dicks would fall off if we relied too much on GPS-that got a laugh.

Flopt 7th Apr 2011 09:52

WACs & 2D pencil

Bushy,

I'm sure you are just s***stirring ,but the Doc can push a 2d 'round a WAC with the best of them.....he's just got lazy in his twighlight years....he used to be a magician with a wizz-wheel...but ditto.

Finding obscure strips outback used to be his specialty before GPS...now he can't be bothered to unneccassarily strain the brain.

Flopt.

Chuck with a map

Chuck and I had an in flight emergency in the 185 a few weeks back. The GPS battery went flat and where ever we were neither of us had been there before. I introduced Chuck to a map of the area and the sby compass. Well my compass turns were not flash but we ended up bang on course to Raglan for lunch. So he can still do it if need be;)

Dangnammit 7th Apr 2011 23:28

Is Raglan (Vic) the strip that's not where it is on the map? Unless they redid the charts.
It's a little to the east of its printed location if I remember correctly.
I'll never forget my instructor diverting me there, I was right over where it should be and couldn't find it.

Sprung!

Jabawocky 11th Apr 2011 03:19

Sprung indeed..........now can anyone pick a "potential" problem in that pic? :E

Aye Ess 11th Apr 2011 03:24

Oooh, ooh, pick me.PICK ME !!!! Um,do I see a pitot cover warning ribbon under the left wing??

morno 11th Apr 2011 04:36

It's Jabba flying it? :E

ForkTailedDrKiller 11th Apr 2011 04:48

It's Jabba flying it? :E
Boom boom - Morno, you beat me to it!

Dr :8

PS: How do we know its Jaba? Cause he is the only one who can start the frigging thing!

Jabawocky 11th Apr 2011 05:34

Aye Ess..... You do have an eye for detail indeed :ok: Chocky frog to you!

This was a relocation taxi past the big fella taking the pics, and these days I do not trust high speed housing construction bugs.....Shoulda seen the folk having a meltdown when I started up with the cover on. :} At least they were vigilant!

FTDK and morno.....you need attention to detail lessons from Aye Ess, its taxiing not flying! :ok:

VH-XXX 11th Apr 2011 05:42

Are you sure that's Jaba? He doesn't seem to be wearing his horizontal striped shirt. I wouldn't have been able to start it without him when I was in it. You need to be a qualified electrical engineer to even consider trying to.

sprocket check 11th Apr 2011 10:01

Potential problem:
Jaba has arrived at a taildragger convention?
:ok:

Chimbu chuckles 11th Apr 2011 11:46

We had ECH Tower convinced to give Jaba taxi instructions that would have left him miles away from the real airplanes facing away in disgrace-but Jaba arrived late and he was knocked off for the evening.:E

Some where there are pics of me bringing JTM in- there were that many people with phallic lenses it wasn't funny.

'Jesus is Lord' on the roof of the Christian Outreach Centre to the right of the road. Will Chopperlines overseas muslim fixed-wing trainees get offended and demand equal billing for a verse from the Koran they can read while doing circuits? The citizenry's noise levels are set to increase.
When the Drive-In operated in another age, we could see brief snatches of movie on final, when doing night circuits and building time for Commercial and Night ratings.
