Jamair,

yes you are right - that makes it four years ago that we last spoke! I was really having a great time in Kal enjoying the flying and the life, but I took an opportunity in mid 2004 to do this....

An incredible photo CS, are the conditions always that clear during the summer months?
Here's a shot that might as well have been taken on another planet.
Any takers for this location? (Not suggesting anyone move there.)

I reckon I would have recognised that place quicker if you'd taken the photo at night TQ!!! I won't spoil the fun of others guessing as you know I know that place very well!

As for my pic, when not blizzarding, the clarity of the air is extraordinary. The horizon is almost always razor sharp and things seem a lot closer than they really are.

Hey Haughtney,

That pic from a few pages ago is "Gatnick" :E

haughtney1 6th Dec 2006 18:50

You ever get to taxi under the bridge reddo? :E

Pee Three 6th Dec 2006 20:19

Hey Stallie I like you have some fond and not so fond memories of TQ's pic above. Although at first I must admit to being confused as I don't believe I've seen the weather quite so nice and being during the day was equally confusing...!!!???
Pee Three:)

Jamair

The lump of rock in post 314 would be Mt Conner, so I'm guessing the strip is Curtin Springs

the wizard of auz 6th Dec 2006 21:34

Hmmm, Warbo? looks like five miles to run on the Kal track. Hey ya stallie, how goes the cold?.

redsnail 6th Dec 2006 22:03

Hey Haughtney,

Yeah, we were concerned about our wing tip clearances... Not. :}

PLovett 6th Dec 2006 22:42

Warbo. Are the two horses there still grazing alongside the runway?:uhoh:

the wizard of auz 6th Dec 2006 23:39

Nah, they ate those.

Question: Does it still have a bowser?
Home of Daisy perchance?

Just noticed that pic. I would have picked it. I spent two years there. ( have a look at the barby on the other side of the track. I built it and it has all of our gangs name in the cement).
Used to know someone was coming an hour before they got there. Bloody great spotlight flashing all over the sky.
Daisy don't live there, but she's been there alot.

Kiwikurra?

TQ
That one looks like Kiwikurra, although there are a lot more houses than I remember.

I don't remember Kiwikurra being sealed and thought that the "apron" was about 2/3 the way down the eastern end?

Memory fades TQ, but I thought it was Warburton?

bushy 7th Dec 2006 23:24

Warburton

I think you are right and it is Warburton. Kiwikurra had lots of work done on the strip after the last flooding, but this place has many more houses, and roads, and the strip is a little different.

look a little closer to the far ground. certainly not NZ. look also at the aircraft and what color it is, and think visibility. Old mate Stallie works in a far colder environment than we normal people. :}

slackie 8th Dec 2006 04:39

woz "tongue in cheek"!

the wizard of auz 8th Dec 2006 07:21

D'oh. :} righto.

Time for me to get in on the action. Will be interesting to see if anyone can spot where these pics were taken.
