Anything of interest you can deduce from the 210's GPS?
Yep, appears to be a tad off track! := :E

I love the palindromatic call-sign in the russian thing.

Capt Wally 30th May 2008 14:29

hey Dr:8 ya can't carry as much,go as high, as far or as fast as that twin kero burner. I figure that in oder for you to go the same distance with the same amonut of bums as a B200 for Eg you would burn a hell of a lot more gas than me. How he says? Well you can carry 5 bums right? (excluding you) & a typical B200 in high density seating could carry up to say 14 (little japs:)). That's nearly 3 times the amount of bums than you can carry. Lets see now you would have to do the same trip as me 3 times, meaning 5 legs. Typical 300 nm trip one way, takes you say 2 hrs roughly. That's 10 hrs flying to get the same amount of bums to this mythical destination @ say 55 LPH= 550ltrs. I do the same trip once & use just over 400 ltrs. That's a lot of gas for you Dr:8 & I'll be on the way home when yr just bringing the last 5 up !:E Soz for the drift but if you must fly a SE then ya gunna have to work hard at it Dr:8:E

Phew I better go hide b4 the Mods spot me:E

Just a quick question about my last photo and I dont want to get into a pprune fight about it but I'm interested to know other ppruner's perspective on whether they think this is still VMC. I know what the rules are so don't chastise me for that, I just want to know if I did this on a CPL flight test, would I fail due to proximity to cloud. The way I see it, it's almost impossible to accurately judge distance horizontally and only mildly easier to judge height from cloud. Getting on top saves fuel and might even pickup a stronger tailwind so I'm doing whats best for the company and I'm not entering cloud on climb or descent (though I may get a touch closer to them).
Any (positive) feedback??
Thanks
cfOt

Peter Fanelli 30th May 2008 21:53

If you want to save fuel for the company you could back it off from combat power a little and play with that red knob. :)

Sunfish 30th May 2008 22:00

Should be at 7500 if you want correct altitude for heading and want to be 1000 ft clear of cloud, that is of course if there is no airspace LL to run into.

Creampuff 30th May 2008 22:13

Looks to me like aircraft in the last picture is not at or below 3000’ AMSL or 1,000’ AGL. Looks to me like less than 1000’ feet vertical separation from the tops of that cloud. Perhaps the aircraft was on climb. But then there’s the horizontal distance rule….

I think the practical test is: If an opposite direction climbing IFR popped out of the cloud, would the PICs have time to see each other and take avoiding action?

On a different subject, perhaps that EGT should have been flagged U/S…..:E

Hmmmm.....Wait... no it pretty much seems to correspond to the position of the mixture control. :E

Wally, Wally, Wally, ya halucinating mate! Why would I want to cart 14 little Japs anywhere?

This is about you and me.

For your theorectical 300 nm trip, I burn 110 L vs your 400 L. I win!

Dr :8

CFOT 31st May 2008 00:18

Lol. You can't get away with much around here. :O
Yes EGT was US so I was leaning by ear and I thought I'd be generous with the richening after hitting peak. No excuse for the throttle!
These were taken on different days and the second was climbing through 7500 wondering if I could level off as the constant pitch isn't as efficient at 9500 I ended up cruising at 5500 below it all, in the bumps.
Just thought I'd get some opinions from people who knew.
Thanks for your help :)

Capt Wally 31st May 2008 03:21

Dr Dr Dr:8 but what about when this country is owned by the Japanese? They will want more than 5 of 'em to go to the Gold Coast at any one time:E
Anyway I was just teasin' ya.

I dunno mate. I spose similar reasoning as to why most of us aren't using our real names as log in names. I don't think I've done anything wrong or anything like that - just prefer to keep it anonymous

ForkTailedDrKiller 31st May 2008 07:59

ABX, I expect it will be back in the air within 2 weeks, but I may not get to fly it until the end of August cause I am going O/S.

Dr :8

PS: That's Dr Forkie to you Pyro!
